It “sounds” like you are saying that any input you enter into the field is being rejected.
- What character set is the keyboard you are using? Does the issue appear using OTHER keyboards or different computers?
- Is your WordPress database using UTF-8 character encoding?
What the client is asking for is the ability to allow automatic yearly membership renewals with Stripe.
You need to be able to process recurring subscription payments. The WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway, by itself, does not support recurring subscription payments. You also need the WooCommerce Subscriptions extension.
I suspect that I’d simply make new offered membership levels with 1yr durational expiration and replace what is displayed in our store.
That is correct.
What about leap years?
That has never been an issue. And nobody that I know of, has had any members join on leap day, LOL.
Same question if we simply left the existing calendar year members alone and then offered only the 1yr durational membership renewal would the system simply add 1yr to their membership. whenever it expires.
That is “the simplest,” and most ethical, solution. For a time, you will have a large block of members with expiration dates that are the same. But as time goes on, you will have members who let their memberships expire and then renew.
I know this was discussed years ago, but my client is having this problem now.
The problem was 2 users trying to use the same email address.

I managed to hide it from the page code using a tweak found in a forum diskussion but it does not seem to affect every instance of the login – not the compact widget.
Is this is the tweak you are referring to? Also, in another post, you indicated that you are using a caching plugin that is not supported.

If you insist on using your current caching plugin, you must determine if it can be configured in a manner similar to the two supported plugins.You must use the Contact Form and the appropriate person will contact you.
You can use the Member Profile Display Add-on to create a membership directory page.
The “simple” cart only applies the custom input on a “cart” level. The eStore plugin has both a product level and a cart level custom input capability. The product level capability is built into the plugin and the cart level capability requires an addon.
Is this problem somehow related to your other issue? In other words, are you trying to work on this AND the other issue at the same time?

This is more of a General WordPress theme tweaking tutorial as the menu gets displayed by your theme. eMember has nothing to do with displaying your navigation menu. Different themes display the navigation menu differently and from different place(s) of the template file, so this tutorial may not be applicable to all themes. What that means is that, you must contact the theme developer, or the community support forum, for that particular theme, and ask your question about which PHP files need to be edited.
Did you “prepare the CSV file with member information” that is specific to your configuration? Per those same instructions, the purpose of the skeleton CSV file is only to “give you an idea” of what the required format is.
