Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eMember › WP eMember Troubleshooting › eMember – This email ID is unavailable! error on password change
When I reset a eMember member’s password, then log in as that member and try to change the password on his user profile page, I get the error “This email ID is unavailable!”
I also get an alert recommending logging out and logging in with the new password because it has been changed, but the “email ID is unavailable” error seems to have prevented the password from actually being changed. Needless to say, this will result in a frustrated user if he follows the directions. Please help! I can provide a login to test for you if you need it.
Aha, the trick was to turn off display of the email field on the user profile page in Pages/Forms settings.
Wouldn’t this prevent the user from being able to update his email address, since its not being displayed?
Turning off the email field is probably not the best solution. Lets find out why this issue is happening on your site.
What version of eMember are you using? Can you please create a temporary test member account and tell me what I can do to see the issue?
Was this issue ever resolved? I’m having the same problem, using the most recent version of eMember and WordPress 4.1.
In our main plugin we don’t have this issue. We have tested this. Something else is causing the issue. Give me the steps to reproduce the issue on your site so I can see it.
Sorry not to have responded sooner–I hadn’t realized you replied. (Is there a way users can be emailed when their issue is replied to? I find that very helpful so I can keep on top of solutions/suggestions that are offered.)
I figured out what was going on. Somehow, I had the same email address for two different usernames and it was causing the conflict.
Thanks for your time and attention. Much appreciated!
Best,
Dawn Boyer
