Sorry if I misunderstood you. I thought you are giving out a product with serial keys which needs a checkout so I said the above. You can build the list both ways but if the squeeze form is working out for you then keep using that (I my answer was more of a suggestion).

I believe this is what’s happening in your case (Method 1):
You are not doing anything wrong. Simply let user’s fill the form and when they click on the special link sent to their email, they will be able to complete the registration.
You are trying to give products for free with serial key so I think you will have a better setup if you use option 1 from the following post given your scenario:

The squeeze form is not really for what you are trying to do. If you use option 1 from the above link you will be able to customize a few things from eStore’s manual checkout settings.
Hi, the autoplay option will only work if you specify it in the settings. Unfortunately, there is no “autoplay” option in the fancybox settings. Please use the pretty photo options if you need autoplay.

Given that this 3rd party membership plugin is executing the integration code you shared then it will give commission for the recurring charges too. Basically, the affiliate plugin only knows of a sales if the software processing the sale notifies the plugin. This is true for recurring charges too.

The shortcode you are using is not something we call “Auto Upgrade”. It doesn’t trigger any email because the user is doing the operation right there. Also, this option to freely upgrade the membership level to a different level is mostly used as a backdoor operation used by some admins. In normal situation, your members will upgrade account by paying for it (explained in the following documentation). This operation will trigger emails:

A sale is registered only if someone follows the affiliate link and makes a purchase. If it’s just a click no sale will be registered and no commission will be awarded until the user actually makes a purchase.
Your affiliate will be able to login to their affiliate account and check the number of referrals they made as well as the commission.
