Hi,
I just tried a test on your site and I did indeed get multiple emails.
Before we do anything else, can you please load the latest version of eStore as per the instructions below:
Then try a test again to see if this makes a difference.
February 6, 2012 at 12:35 am in reply to: A somewhat different use for eMember – newbie question… #41656PeterMemberHi paul,
You say that WSO is an external page but what is it exactly?
Before I go on I want to suggest that you should look at the eMember documentation and videos to get a general idea of the capabilities of eMember and membership setup and workflow:
Some answers to your questions inline:
3) ORIGINALLY, I imagined that I would simply set up a PayPal button on the WSO page, then from PayPal I would send people to a Thank-You page where they would register with my aWeber, and from there I would send them an email with membership site access. But in that scenario I would still have a problem with not just registering them with aWeber but also with my membership site.
You can send people from the “external” WSO page to your WordPress landing page which will have a membership registration payment button. (setting up a paypal button with eMember is explained here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-use-a-simple-paypal-payment-button-to-accept-membership-payment-146)
Alternatively you can integrate eStore with eMember and use a “Buy Now” button to send your clients to PayPal too. (see http://tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/?p=60)
4) Now I see that your philosophy seems to be a bit different (I can adapt, if need be, but first I need to find out if I can do this “my way”). Here you want me to create a free membership area, then get people to opt in, and then get to paid membership area, etc.
No you do not have to create a “FREE” membership if you don’t want to. You can have a paid-only membership for your site using the techniques mentioned in the above answer.
5) So how would I go about setting this up? Apart from copying your recommended setup (which would force me to reorganize the whole site, etc – which I CAN do if I must, lol), is there a simple way for me to do this?
This is not a question which can be answered in a few lines. Depends how you want your purchase flow to work but as mentioned previously you should start by looking at the documentation to familiarise yourself with eMember.
6) Currently, I have locked down the site and when people get to the URL they see the “login or join” screen. I guess I could now modify the “join” screen to become a “register” screen, but then how would I be able to verify that the payment has indeed been made? After all the person can just enter the login URL and could register himself without paying.
Is there a way to do this?
In terms of membership registration you can configure eMember so that people have to pay in order to register and gain access to their content. see my answers in 3) above.
The eMember plugin allows you to quite easily protect your content in various ways which can restrict what people see depending on their membership level. Once again the plugin is very flexible in how you can do this and you would really need to watch some of the videos and read the documentation to get a general idea of what’s possible.
PeterMemberHi,
You said that you “have a number of pages which are unprotected”.
But what about the page “MommyJingles.com/Members/”?
Have you checked its settings to make sure that you haven’t protected it?

February 3, 2012 at 6:26 am in reply to: problem with lightbox, mouse over effects rising over top. #41565PeterMemberHi,
Yeah sure you could adjust size of popup box and image. It’s just a little fiddly because you have to account for the container and the image within it but definitely achievable.
For instance below is an example piece of code which adjusts the proportions by around half:
#lightbox-container-image-box {
left: -280px;
height: 320px !important;
width: 420px !important;
}
#lightbox-container-image-data-box {
position: relative;
left: -280px;
width: 400px !important;
}
#lightbox-image {
width: 400px !important;
height: 300px !important;
}
You can play around with different dimensions if you wish or how far left you want to move the popup etc
If you wanted to use the above suggestion simply replace all of the contents of the wp_eStore_custom_style.css with the code given.
February 3, 2012 at 1:28 am in reply to: problem with lightbox, mouse over effects rising over top. #41562PeterMemberHi,
There’s a relatively easy solution for your dilemma.
Open your wp_eStore_custom_style.css file and place the following code in this file:
#lightbox-container-image-box {
left: -280px;
}
#lightbox-container-image-data-box {
position: relative;
left: -280px;
}
The above tweak will move the light box slightly to the left out of the way of your other effects on the right hand side.
PeterMemberHi,
1) Regarding your collection of customer details such as address/phone etc please this post which might answer your question:
Also as you’ve already mentioned, you can quite easily place a form with the relevant collection details in the return url “thank you” page which customers can be re-directed to after they pay through PayPal.
2) For your 2 pay option you will have to set up a subscription product to achieve this.
Subscription products behave differently to “normal” products in that PayPal uses a different API and because of this you can’t add items to cart which means your original up-sell idea will not work.
However you can do the up-sell after payment has been processed in PayPal and the customer is redirected to the page of your choice, eg, Thank you page.
But instead of using the same Thank you page as the first product, you can specify a separate return url for the subscription product by filling in the “Return URL” field in the “Buy Now or Subscription Type Button Settings” of your product’s configuration.
PeterMemberHi,
Which version of WordPress are you using?
When you say “it won’t allow me to use the plugin uploader”, what are you actually seeing when you try to use the uploader?
What is your product ID value and which shortcode are you using?
Also I noticed that when I went to your site, I see the following error in firebug:
“WP Super Cache is installed but broken. The path wp-cache-phase1.php in wp-content/advanced-cache.php must be fixed!”
February 2, 2012 at 11:46 pm in reply to: Customer Not Receiveing Link in Email and Not Being Redirected To Thank You Page #40795PeterMemberHi,
Let’s try this – Can you please load a fresh copy of the latest eStore version by following the instructions in this link:
Let us know if that corrects the problem.
PeterMemberHi,
There is a feature which awards a one time commission payment for subscription products – is this what you are after?
If so then to activate this you go to WP eStore->Settings->Addon Settings->WP Affiliate Platform Specific Settings section and check the One Time Commission for Subscription Payment option.
PeterMemberHi,
I think admin meant to say that standard HTTP GET is “not” working – probably a typo.
If it was working the command that admin gave you at the end of the link, ie, ?p=1 would have queried the wordpress DB and displayed a page but in your case it is not displaying anything.
PeterMemberHi,
The email you’re referring to is definitely coming from eStore.
Look in the eStore settings page and go to the “Email Settings” section.
The first part will contain the configuration for the email you’re referring to.
Carefully double-check the “From” field. You should have an entry which looks something like:
XXXX<youremailaddress>
I suspect that you might have “WordPress” for the “XXXX” value.
PeterMemberHi,
In setting up your PayPal button to integrate with eMember, did you follow the instructions on the following page?
PeterMemberHi Neil,
I’ll let you answer admins questions which he sent as I was typing my response to you (see previous page).
Then wait and see what he has to say.
PeterMemberHi again Neil,
Never mind my previous question.
I found your thank you page.
I’ve noticed that it has a few errors when I observe it with firebug. The errors are:
Error 1:
Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://thesecretsolved.com/thank-you/ from frame with URL https://plusone.google.com/_/+1/fastbutton?url=http%3A%2F%2Fthesecretsolved.com%2Fthank-you%2F&size=medium&count=true&annotation=bubble&hl=en-US&jsh=m%3B%2F_%2Fapps-static%2F_%2Fjs%2Fwidget%2F__features__%2Frt%3Dj%2Fver%3D9cu2lp4SU3k.en_GB.%2Fsv%3D1%2Fam%3D!uCQzFzhDAFyICoUOFQ%2Fd%3D1%2F#id=I1_1328073327620&parent=http%3A%2F%2Fthesecretsolved.com&rpctoken=307613824&_methods=onPlusOne%2C_ready%2C_close%2C_open%2C_resizeMe%2C_renderstart. This error is pointing to the following file:

I suspect that your theme may be interfering with the eStore plugin’s shortcode.
Could you please check if your theme is causing a conflict by reverting to the standard wordpress twentyten or twentyeleven theme. See the following for more:
