Hey Admin,
I wanted to share with everyone what I found on this issue and how I resolved it.
GoDaddy sets the socket automatically to “closed.”
I changed it to “open” in the php5.ini file (it’s the second line).
I also edited the line that starts with “disable_function = ….” to take out fsocketopen, so that is no longer diabled. Of course, I tried both of those things together as I was too impatient to try one at a time so I don’t know which one did the trick. Logically, I figured both were needed anyway.
That fixed errors I had with Akismet and reCaptcha.
Thanks again for the super plugins! You make me look much smarter than I actually am.
Best, Pam
PamelaMemberHello,
I was thinking you have seen this error before and could maybe point me in the right direction. I’m getting a “could not open socket” error when I use reCaptcha on my eMember registration page. Happens of course when trying to register a new member. The reCaptcha is set up via the setting emember. Things work fine without reCaptcha.
It is at http://booksbypam.com/bookstore/freebies/registration. I’m using version 7.0.8 of eMember and 5.9.4 of eStore (plus alot of other fabulous plugins I bought from you last week). I’m using WP 3.2.1. I haven’t modified any plug in code.
I’m not on Remix yet as I haven’t taken the time to set up that theme. I’m using Atahualpa.
I’m on Linux shared hosting.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Best, Pam
PamelaMemberThe error message is now gone and it works beautifully!
You are amazing. I’m having so much fun designing my site with your tools. My hair wants cutting and my nails need filing but I spend every moment I can working on my site. I’m going to have to get a video camera just so I have an excuse to buy Lightbox Ultimate. Actually, I’m going to just buy it as a tangible thank you. While I’m at it I’m going to try out your Remix theme.
There’s no risk in anything as you guys provide great support!
Very Best Regards, Pam
P.S. Could you please remove the details on the location of my downloads in the earlier post?
PamelaMemberThanks for the support!
September 14, 2011 at 3:16 pm in reply to: How To Upload A File Using WordPress's Media Uploader #21004PamelaMemberHello Ivy the Magic (or whatever kind magician is answering),
I want to place my PDFs on the server without using the WP media uploader. I’ll probably use Filezilla. They are too large for using the WP media uploader (3MB to 45MB in size).
Can you tell me where I should place them?
My understanding is that I can’t use the PDF stamper if I store on my Amazon S3 account, am I correct?
Thanks, Pam
PamelaMemberHi Guys,
I got it working!
I finally read the readme file that came with ionCube and simply did what it said.
I never thought to look for a readme file there (or anywhere, I confess).
So, in the immortal words of Rosanne Rosannadanna…nevermind.
Thanks! Pam
PamelaMemberThanks. I think I have it narrowed down. I’m now just unsure of where the ioncube loader should be installed. I have a deluxe GoDaddy account so I have a few different web sites on that account. The location of the wordpress site is not in the root. It is here /home/content/p/a/m/pampreslar/html/booksbypam/bookstore/.
I installed it here==> /home/content/p/a/m/pampreslar/html/
I also tried installing it here ==> /home/content/p/a/m/pampreslar/html/booksbypam/bookstore
And either way I get the error ==>
/home/content/p/a/m/pampreslar/html/booksbypam/bookstore/wp-content/plugins/wp-pdf-stamper/wp_pdf_stamp1.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.
It also seems to require a php5.ini file which I didn’t have so I just copied a php.ini file and renamed it to php5.ini. I don’t know if I messed something up by doing that. I don’t know php.
GoDaddy sent instructions but made it clear that it’s not a product they support. The ionCube loader was easy to install on the server.
I’ve been at it for a couple of hours now and I’m not getting any smarter. Can you see an obvious error?
Thanks so much in advance.
Pam
PamelaMemberHi,
I get the following error when trying to activate PDF Stamper…
Site error: the file /home/content/p/a/m/pampreslar/html/booksbypam/bookstore/wp-content/plugins/wp-pdf-stamper/wp_pdf_stamp1.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.
I am on GoDaddy servers. Can you tell what to do?
Also, I will apparently need a license key. Can you tell me where to find that?
Best Regards, Pam
PamelaMemberThanks for the speedy response!
PamelaMemberHi Ivy,
Thanks for the kind comment re my site.
Yes, I create all of the earrings myself..a pair a day for one year is my game – starting on April 1st.
I couldn’t have done it this fast without eStore as it has everything I needed and is easy to learn and use.
Thanks, Pam
PamelaMemberRahul & Ivy,
You guys rock! Thanks so much! Now life is grand again!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Pam
PamelaMemberSo, then I guess we’re the blonde leading the blonde
PamelaMemberHi Tink –
Thanks. I was afraid that the solution would be something like that but good to know that I’m not missing something.
Pam
PamelaMemberHi Ivy,
I tried that. She has the Simple PayPal Shopping Cart not eStore and that post discusses eStore only.
[nggallery = x] works fine, but when I try to add template = wp-eStore] I get errors like ther following next to each Add to Cart button…” class=”thickbox” rel=”set_5″ >
I want her to upgrade to eStore but it is a bit difficult when she can’t make this one work.
Perhaps Simple Shopping Cart doesn’t have the same function? If not, please let me know and I’ll get her to buy eStore so we can move on.
Thanks for your time. eStore is great!
Ciao, Pam
PamelaMemberHello,
I’d like to change the “manual purchase” option screen. The one that has a green box that says “order submitted, click here to return to store.”
Can you direct me to the code? For example, which file? I think I can handle it from there.
Thanks, Pam
