Nope, nothing has changed with emember plugin in this respect. The log file will have valuable info for this to figure out what setup has gone wrong. Do you have any log data from that user’s renewal?
Is there any caching happening on this page? Maybe it is showing a broken cached page.

I just tested those shortcodes and they all worked for me. Check the member’s profile from the admin dashboard to make sure that the profile is valid. What is the account status set for that user profile? What is the membership expiry condition set for it (what is the expiry of the membership level that is belongs to)?
The admin dashboard is only for WP user with correct permission. So lets check that first. If you go to the WP users menu, do you see the “memberAdmin” user there? What is the “role” assigned to that user?

Yes, that status=”inactive” should also work. If you go to the members menu, do you see any member records with the “inactive” status? What is the full shortcode that you are using?
Using fancy login in the header or menu is not going to work. It is highly dependant on the theme being used (on many themes it will have issues that we can’t do anything about due to the style the theme is using). The fancy login is really only useful when it is within the protected post. Disable the fancy login option (the default for it is disabled).
It doesn’t have an option for this at the moment. We can potentially do a custom job for this. Which service were you thinking of using?
You should be able to get a simple text link for the paypal button that you can hook in there. Alternatively, try a standard free pricing table plugin from wordpress.org. We found that there are a few of them now (so it is not needed to use that emember’s one).

The best option these days is to add your customization to the following interface of your admin area:
WP Admin -> Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS
