For the most reliable and secure way of dealing with large downloads, the Amazon S3 integration option of eStore, combined with encrypted download links is recommended.
Did you create both a seller & buyer sandbox account?

Okay, let’s try to walk this through…
When the zip file is downloaded, via the encrypted link, is it the same size as the one that was uploaded?
You just added Macs to the equation… Is the behavior the same or different between a Windows download and a Mac download; via the encrypted link?
Okay, so just to clarify; you are still having trouble with the encrypted link downloads, correct?
Have you enabled the eStore debug files and looked in the download_manager_debug.log file?
For anyone else trying to use the S3 feature…
The AWS Console is very lax about what you can name your buckets. However, the S3 feature strictly adheres to, and enforces, the AWS bucket naming restrictions.

Please DO NOT use upper case letters in your bucket names!
Okay, glad you got it to work. Did you do anything “special” or did it mysteriously start to work?
When you said that the file was altered, in what way did you mean? Do the MD5 sums match for the original file and the downloaded one?
Windows Explorer should have no problems browsing ZIP files. It treats them as compressed folders.
Was that in the default, or did you use custom setup for the sandbox accounts?
