OK I will do that. This would be a good feature for you to add. Being able to create an emember account (for existing wordpress accounts). Since you enable this going the other way around (creating a wordpress account for any already existing emember accounts).
June 10, 2013 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Admin can't access locked down URL on frontside of site even when logged in #56009rvlawrenceMemberThat would work but the problem is emember never created an account for my admin so there is no way to link the two together.
I see in the control panel there is a way to create a wordpress account for emember accounts that have ALREADY been created but there is no option for the other way around.
I don’t see an option to create an emember account for wordpress accounts (in this case the admin account) which has already been created.
There is an option to automatically create an emember account when a wordpress account is created, but can’t do it for wordpress accounts that have already been created. There is no option for that.
May 10, 2013 at 12:14 am in reply to: List of Plugins that Don't Play Nice (Conflicting Plugins) #21389rvlawrenceMemberI got a warning about the Bad Behavior plugin incompatibility in my control panel when I updated my emember plugin. I was just wondering if the plugin conflict was resolved yet? I found this thread and wasn’t sure. Please confirm, many thanks!
May 10, 2013 at 12:10 am in reply to: Feature idea: ability to manually choose an expiration date #55498rvlawrenceMemberThat is great to hear! What a wonderful feature to add! The ability to set individual expiration dates would be awesome.
May 9, 2013 at 5:32 pm in reply to: eMember – Replacing the lock image displaying on homepage articles #55479rvlawrenceMemberThis is what I am seeing. If you protect a category, it will protect all media items on the pages in that category. I doublechecked and I do not have any media items protected. When I protected a category and view that category page, all featured image/thumbnail pictures are shown as protected and show the lock icon. So it seems that the category protection overrides all things underneath it (posts and images/media inside those posts).
April 7, 2013 at 2:04 am in reply to: eMember – How to move the bookmark button to a custom location on the page #54417rvlawrenceMemberHi, I was able to fix the issue, there was a problem with another one of my settings for the paragraph. Many thanks for the reply.
April 5, 2013 at 6:03 pm in reply to: eMember – How to move the bookmark button to a custom location on the page #54415rvlawrenceMemberHi, I was able to move the bookmark button using CSS but there is a “hole” where the button used to be.
How do I get the words in the paragraph to continue and not wrap around the blank area where the bookmark button previously was?
rvlawrenceMemberIt would be great to be able to output a list of the most bookmarked posts and have the option to show how many people have bookmarked it (on the post page). That way people can see what’s the most popular. A great way to improve bookmarks and foster community.
“5 people have bookmarked this” (on post pages, a shortcode we could place somewhere)
“Here is a list of the most popular bookmarks on the site” (code we could put in a widget box or on a page embed).
rvlawrenceMemberFor the thumbnail I think he is referring to the images on the posts. Having the bookmark plugin automatically pull in a small thumbail for the post to show up next to the link. The one set by the author at time post is created or the first image in a post.
It would also be great to be able to show a small excerpt of the post.
I think this would be a great feature to have and would add more value to the bookmarking area, something no other membership plugin has. You would be able to customize it however one wants to. Just title, title + excerpt, and have thumbnail or not.
December 17, 2012 at 9:54 pm in reply to: How to create an html link that will make the fancy login pop up? #52464rvlawrenceMemberI might use the shortcode somewhere else and don’t want to change that. Plus I am concerned about when I update the wp emember plugin, then my changes would be lost.
Can you give me the raw code? I just want to make a link that says login, then have the fancy login popup, and put that in my menu links.
December 12, 2012 at 1:18 am in reply to: Duplicate accounts being created when you manually create a new member #52294rvlawrenceMemberAnd then when you delete one of the duplicate emember accounts, it also deletes the corresponding wordpress member account. And you have just one emember account for the person, then have to manually create a wordpress user account again for the person so everything works right again.
So to sum it up, manually creating a new member creates 2 emember accounts in the system.
December 12, 2012 at 12:38 am in reply to: Remove Bookmark from Category Archives and Search Results #52130rvlawrenceMemberHi, it doesn’t seem to be working. I downloaded and installed the new plugin and now what’s happening is the bookmark disappears entirely, even for logged-in members. I double-checked the settings and both boxes were checked: (enable bookmarks and show only to logged in users). I also cleared the browser cache and the cache on the host server. Somehow the system isn’t recognizing the person being logged in so it can show the bookmark.
The member account I am using was one that I had created in the emember control panel last week (not a signup through the registration form). Then I noticed the wordpress account wasn’t automatically created when I hand-created this member (even though I had that option turned on). So I had the emember system create a wordpress account for this user, last week. Not sure if this has anything to do with the bookmark not showing up for a logged-in user but figured I would mention it.
This is a great function to have if it can be working correctly. No other membership plugin offers this. Hope you can get it to work!
December 10, 2012 at 10:48 pm in reply to: More Tag Protection ability to use pop-up login (and not redirect to login page) #52227rvlawrenceMemberI just updated the plugin and I noticed that the “read more” link (in category archives) goes to the site tour page now instead of the login page, so maybe this is fixed? (protect more text is on).
The issue now being that the post headlines (in the category archives) are clickable and they go to the post itself (with the warning box), instead of being redirected to the site tour page. I think there should be an option when using the “protect more tags” that says: ___ send to post page ___ send to site tour page.
The reason why you would want to send people to the post page is because I have my comments showing publicly and that helps entice people to join the site because they can see life on the site and what other people are saying about the content, so that’s social proof.
Basically the point is, it’s for site usability reasons, you want all links to content on your category archive pages to do the same thing when protected. Either send people to the site tour page or send them to the post page where they can see the teaser text/warning box (that hides the protected content) and shows the comments from people (if you have them publicly visible).
December 10, 2012 at 4:33 am in reply to: Remove Bookmark from Category Archives and Search Results #52128rvlawrenceMemberThank you for this, it is very helpful.
Another useful feature would be to disable the bookmark from showing to users who are not logged-in. An option in the control panel such as “Show bookmark feature ONLY to users who are logged-in”. That way guests don’t have to see it. Or you could enable the bookmark feature by level and site owners could use that as an incentive for “gold members” or other membership levels. And hide it for “guests”.
Also, I noticed that if there are no bookmarks and the member visits their bookmark page, they see a blank box with “remove” underneath it. This is confusing for people. There should be some text in the box that says something like: “You do not have any bookmarks currently. Please add some, then revisit this page.” (and the remove button should not be showing).
This is a great feature and is something that none of the other membership platforms have, so this is very valuable and a big selling point. Helps to make our membership sites better and more user friendly!
