When using the more tag protection feature, instead of redirecting people to the login page, it would be great to be able to have the pop-up login work. That way, the user interface is the same across the whole site and there is no confusion. If someone is using the pop-up login everywhere else, why not here too? Or at least make it an option in the control panel.

What is happening on my site is that in the category archives, someone can click on a post headline and goes the post page then there is the login warning box, they click that and the pop-up appears and they can log-in then view the content.

But, back on the category page if the person hits the “read more” link (instead of the post headline) they get sent to the login page. (There is no pop up login at the “read more” text).

I am not redirecting people after login because I am not using a member homepage and want them to simply stay logged-in to the area they were looking at (this is how wordpress currently does it).

What happens is that the person in my case goes to click on the “read more” link, goes to the member login page, logs into the site, then is stuck at that page (with nothing there but the widget showing them as being logged in). Then they have to navigate back through the site to find where they were in order to read the post.

Whereas in all the other parts of my site where I use the simple pop-up login, the person logs-in and goes right back to the page or post they were on without being redirected and can enjoy the content.

Hope this is clear and makes sense. Basically giving the option on the “more tag” protection to use the pop-up login or redirect to login page would solve this issue. As well as add additional functionality to the plugin.

I just updated the plugin and I noticed that the “read more” link (in category archives) goes to the site tour page now instead of the login page, so maybe this is fixed? (protect more text is on).

The issue now being that the post headlines (in the category archives) are clickable and they go to the post itself (with the warning box), instead of being redirected to the site tour page. I think there should be an option when using the “protect more tags” that says: ___ send to post page ___ send to site tour page.

The reason why you would want to send people to the post page is because I have my comments showing publicly and that helps entice people to join the site because they can see life on the site and what other people are saying about the content, so that’s social proof.

Basically the point is, it’s for site usability reasons, you want all links to content on your category archive pages to do the same thing when protected. Either send people to the site tour page or send them to the post page where they can see the teaser text/warning box (that hides the protected content) and shows the comments from people (if you have them publicly visible).
