    WAIT! IT WORKED!!!!! I didn’t realize that a string of numbers at the bottom of the email was the COUPON CODE (because I hadn’t written any text to go with it. derrrrr – haha!) I’m SOOOO happy this works!!! I LOVE YOUR PLUGINS!!! I recommend them to all of my clients who want ecommerce sites, membership sites, and affiliates. They all work GREAT – and your Admin/Tech Support team rocks! Thank you for being available on a Friday night/Saturday to help me figure this out. :)

    DIRECTIONS for those who sell products on their site – who want new members to receive a coupon as an incentive/reward for joining – and most importantly have it generate and send this coupon to them automatically. (Which is a beautiful thing.)

    1. Download/install this plugin: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-estore-dynamic-couponsdiscounts-addon-2220

    2. Configure the plugin: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-content/uploads/docs/doc_eStore_dynamic_coupons.pdf

    3. eStore > Add/Edit Products > Additional Product Details > Reference Text > insert the ID number that corresponds with the eMember level

    4. eStore > Add/Edit Products > Product Specific Instructions for Buyer > Instructions for Buyer > insert some text + shortcode. Such as: Here’s a coupon code for ($ or %) off any one item in our store: {dynamic_coupon_key}

    5. eStore > Setting >Email Settings > Buyer Email Body* > insert THIS below the product link:

    {product_specific_instructions}

    And then, IF you want the payment to go to a different PayPal account (to keep your income from sales separate from your income from memberships) use this shortcode on the actual product page:

    [wp_eStore_buy_now_button id=x] (x is your product id number)

    Hmmm… didn’t work. Here are the steps I used, in case you see a mistake that I may have made…

    1. I put {dynamic_coupon_key} in the Product Specific Instructions for this product

    2. Per the instructions in that section I put a {product_specific_instructions} tag in the “Buyers Email Body” field in the settings menu to dynamically place this information in the email body.

    3. I used the “Buy Now” type of button (to force the payments to go to a a different PayPal account – which is did- hooray)

    In the “Thank you for your purchase” email, there was no reference to – or mention of – a coupon for 50% off one item.

    Are there any other work-around solutions you can think of? I wonder if there’s a way to get the eMember plugin to recognize/use {dynamic_coupon_key} in the Email Settings (Registration Complete)?

    NICE!!!! So close….

    I only want to give a (single use) 50% off coupon to those who purchase an annual membership – not everyone who makes a purchase in our store. Is there a way to customize this plugin so it associates this shortcode with just one id number?

    ie {dynamic_coupon_key_id_48}

    Oh! Now I see how to do it… Using Option #1 and setting the expiry date to 1 year, I can edit a member’s signup date after they register so that it matches the actual date that they paid their dues. (My challenge was that I built this site for an organization that has over 600 members who have already paid their dues – some of which are coming up for renewal soon, others not for almost a year.)

    It would be nice if I was able to set a hard date for a particular membership level (such as Jan 1, 2020 for a Premium level) and then be able to manually override this and change the date. I don’t see a way to do this…

    Aha – by setting a (hard) date for the membership level to expire (like… 10 years from now), we can manually edit the dates as each member registers and waits for approval. Got it!

    I love your plugins! (I recommend your eStore plugin to all of my clients who want an eCommerce site.)

    Update… As time is of the essence in getting the membership component of this website working we’ve decided to have all members go in and register manually instead of using the bulk upload feature. When names/passwords are entered in this manner, the “forgot password/reset” function works properly.

    mbrsolution – the “Email Functionality Tester” plugin was very helpful. With that, we were able to see that WordPress – and the server – were both able to send test emails. We received them right away.

    To clarify (for others who are having a similar issue) the “permissions” were set to 644. After we changed it to 755, the (“forgot password”) email was able to come in.

    After recursively setting the permissions to 755 on the FTP, we’re now we’re able to receive the forgot password e-mails from the server. However… the passwords that we receive do not work. The email received looks like:

    Dear Linda Bell

    You have reset your password.

    Membership details:

    [redacted]

    Thank You

    Please advise, thanks.

    Wzp – I’ve checked my Spam folder. Nothing came in. So, I contacted the web hosting company in case it had something to do with a setting on the server. Their response was ” it is possible that you do not have the correct permissions set on the plugins directory.” (Any suggestions?)

    Crispinhull – thank you. It’s nice to know it’s not just me that’s having these issues. Hopefully we can get this working well. (I love their eStore plugin!)

    That worked! I was able to get all of the members imported. Thank you.

    Now, I’m having an issue with it not sending an email when you click Forgot/Reset Password. Can you please advise me on how to troubleshoot this?

    I tried doing that but couldn’t get it to work. Do you have a tutorial on how to do it?

    Aha…. I’m using a Photocrati theme for this site, which has some ecommerce tools built into it. (I much prefer to use yours.) The code must be coming from that. Do you have any suggestions for how I would go about disabling it?

    Still no luck. (And there is no hidden HTML code on the Text mode of the editor.)
