Got it. Thanks
November 13, 2014 at 2:55 am in reply to: eStore – exclude download script from gzip compression #58051dwboneMemberPiggy backing on the post…
regarding adding “download” to the “Prevent caching exception list”
Morley mentions he “added download.php to the exception list”
I’m wondering which do I add: “download” or “download.php” ?
thanks
dwboneMemberindeed, – it wasn’t an issue of how many times they clicked or tried to click, they’d get the error on the First Click.
but as per my previous post…
apparently the whole episode was in fact a server issue and seems to have been resolved.
Thanks
dwboneMemberfollow up
I will definitely use the plugin but, to be clear link fails and the error message occurs on the first try, it never processes. (I even asked if they were trying to double click the link… but they say no.)
Anyway, I’m going to put this on hold, as we have discovered a possible host-server problem, and that may be contributing to the inconsistent caching or processing.
I’ll let you know…
dwboneMemberwill do.
thanks.
dwboneMemberNot sure if i should start a new post or if this is a follow up…
but we seem to be have inconsistent downloadability for some but not all visitors, both for purchased products and for Squeeze page free downloads.
I am able to download via the email link and it appears that others are able to as well but the owner of the site and a few other customers get the following message upon clicking the download link (on the first try – not repeated tries).
“The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has expired (it’s too old). If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.”
again this occurs on their first attempt to download.
I however test the the process, get my link via email and it works just fine.
any thoughts? is it a browser issue?
Thanks for your guys never-ending patience.
dwboneMemberawesome, that did it. glad i noticed that option at all.
that detail is not particularly highlighted in the wp tweet documentation, especially up against that well highlighted red circle just below.
always really appreciate it your help
dwboneMemberRE: username and password, i am not sure to whom that refers, but as a “the customer” in my test, yes my UN and PW are correct.
I have also confirmed that the API codes are correct.
I can see in the twitter account “access level” in the Keys and Access Tokens tab permissions are set to “read-only”
dwboneMemberwill do soon
dwboneMemberwhich username are you referring to? me the “buyer / tweeter”
or username and password for the site owner’s twitter account?
I don’t see a place for owner’s twitter un and pw in the settings, just the consumer key and secret.
Ammend:
there is the user name input, and that appears to be correct
dwboneMemberyep, not very “intuitive” for client though, who will write descriptions and have to use the code in place of commas in the writing. I’ll just use myPHP from now on for bulk work.
thanks.
dwboneMemberactually the amount of text that is retained varies sometimes a few words sometimes most of a sentence up to two lines.
ah, taking a closer look, comparing the successful version to to the csv to db version, it appears that the first comma in the description is where the truncating occurs.
dwboneMemberIndeed. it was only a last resort solution really, and I always login in to myPHP with a great deal of trepidation.
dwboneMemberActually I just remembered, if i recall, i have manually changed id’s via myPHP, and all works well. (to be specific: I think what I did was recycled a deleted product’s id number, in order to force a previous omitted product to be “inserted” consecutive with its earlier related products.)
but the next new product added via eStore admin would be numbered a la most recent product, so organizing products by id numbers as new products are added would mean bypassing eStore for the PHP management, not ideal.
hope that means something to anyone.
I’ll check out the article
dwboneMemberThanks,
I turned off “Downloadable” in the product’s Digital Content Details.
and I switched the “WP eStore Download Manager Related”, under store settings “Add On” tab, to RELATIVE, and Left the “Method” to the default Method 1.
Seems to be working. Love the eStore. There seems to always be a solution.
