MemberHello Tips and Tricks,
In this post, I try to ask some questions and at the same time, share some information to other eMember users.
I have a similar “issue” with the thread starter: I want teaser content to show but it isn’t showing. I do have Enable More Tag Protection enabled/checked, BUT at the same time the content is located inside a *protected* category. Perhaps Enable More Tag Protection only works well on content that is outside a *protected* category?
I did two experiments to see the outputs (both content inside a *protected* category, and membership levels are protected within each post)
1. On one post, I used the More tag but no teaser content is showing. Only “Please Login to view this Content…” message is showing:
Content here
More tag here
2. On another post, I used partial content protection along with the More tag:
[emember_protected scope=not_logged_in_users_only]
Content here
[/emember_protected]
More tag here
[emember_protected for=2-3-4-5]
Content here
[/emember_protected]
This one showed a teaser content. When a non-logged in user clicks on the “Read More” button, it shows content after the More tag and a warning image which says “This content is for members only.”
I would ideally prefer to have a teaser content for number 1 above — *without* invoking section protection features as I have done in number 2. Is that possible in a protected category?
Does individual post protection offer the same level of protection and protection guarantee as category protection? Right now, I view the category protection as a surefire way of guaranteeing protection, hence I used it.
Thank you very much

MemberWhat is the significance and difference of that code with this (see below closing tags):
[emember_protected for=1]
Whatever content goes here is only visible by members who belong to level 1
[/emember_protected]
[emember_protected for=2]
Whatever content goes here is only visible by members who belong to level 1 and level 2
[/emember_protected]
Thank you!

MemberAdditional question:
https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-protect-a-section-of-a-post-or-page-88
“Warning: Just remember that when you want to use section protection of a post or page you should not protect the “category” that the post belongs to. When you apply category protection for a category all the posts in that category is fully protected (category protection overrides all the small section protections in the post).”
1. In a *Protected category*, may I use section protection features mentioned on the abovet article? Could you expound on that warning (“Just remember that when you want to use section protection of a post or page you should not protect the “category” that the post belongs to”)?
2. I want to use partial protection on a post(using section protection) but I don’t want it restricted only to a protected category. What happens if I add that post (that is using section protection) in two categories (a protected category and an UNprotected category)? In this case, how can I make sure the content is protected?
Thank you very much

MemberThanks wzp. However, I am not sure that is the best way to approach it.
The content I need time-based protection on will involve past articles/archive. Specifically, I want to grant access to this archive after a certain time period, not based on membership duration. Again, let’s say Subscriber A joined October 1. He is eligible to view certain page/post/content (the archive, in this case) by/not EARLIER than January 30.
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but the Auto-Upgrade feature appears to be a complex or “long-cut” solution to a simple goal, as I need to create more levels than necessary. It also does not directly address what I am trying to achieve (that is, ability to specify a date/time without having to create more membership levels).
Auto-upgrade seem to have a very specific function, that is, “Auto upgrade works based on the time duration that the user stays a member of a particular membership level.”
Any other suggestions? Would it be possible to add this time-based protection to the plugin? I know your team is open to suggestions like this.
Basically, you’ll be adding only these:
– a time and date field,
– checkboxes for Membership levels (which member levels the time-based protection will be applicable to) and
– a specific member field (option to apply time-based protection on a specific member only).
I am sure several users of eMember would also benefit from and appreciate this feature.
Thank you very much

Member“You should be able to add secondary levels then have nested section/partial protection shortcode.”
Could you provide an example of this?
Thanks
September 30, 2014 at 4:26 am in reply to: Feature Request – Add IP address to top level in WP eMembers Manage Members #55862phytochem
MemberHello T&T,
Any updates on this deleted feature/proposed add-on?
I think it would also be useful to see all the IP addresses (on a list) used by each member.
I have a related question as well. When I edited a section of a member’s profile (I just added notes in the Admin Notes field), the “Last Accessed from IP” changed to MY IP address. Is that normal? If it is, then I wouldn’t be able to see the actual IP addresses used by my members every time I make edits on their profiles.
Thank you

September 26, 2014 at 10:30 am in reply to: eMember and WP Affiliate – possible to manually set member id and affiliate id? #65681phytochem
MemberOk, I’ve thought of an alternative.
Are the member ID and affiliate ID (both numerical IDs) visible to all members? If yes, is there an option to hide it from them or to use member-set non-numerical member IDs and affiliate IDs?
Thank you

Member“Yep thats right. For example when you checkout from my site using PayPal you will see my business name (Tips and Tricks HQ) on PayPal. All I did was put my paypal email address in the settings menu. “
Hello Amin,
What requirements did you submit to Paypal to confirm/verify your business account?
Would you know the requirements for a PayPal Premier account as well?
Thank you
