Hi there,
I hear you about the theme, it’s time for a change anyway so I will use a premium, non-auto generated one this time round – useful articles you pointed me to, thanks.
January 24, 2013 at 11:48 pm in reply to: Comments now require approval and are showing to non logged in users #53345martinMemberHi, thanks for getting back to me. Here are the answers…
Are you logged into the site as a WP Admin? YES
Do you have the “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” checkbox checked in the discussions settings of WP Admin?
NO – members have never needed to be logged in to WordPress, only to eMember
What checkboxes do you have checked from the “Before a comment appears” field of the WordPress discussions settings?
An administrator must always approve the comment NO
Comment author must have a previously approved comment NO
What are the values that you have set for the following eMember settings options?
– Protect Comments Separately NO
– Members Must be Logged in to Comment YES
So you are looking at the comment section of a protected post correct? Can you post a link to the post or page in question?
YES – please see [http://www.pettipher-young.co.uk/living-gracefully-the-best-we-can/]
As I said, this is a test site, not the live version, so if you need access to look inside just let me know
Many thanks
martinMemberHi,
That’s great, all working now, thank you
martinMemberAh, I never received that, could you re-send it please?
Thank you
martinMemberHello,
Thanks for the advice – I’ve installed a fresh version but the problem still remains. In reply to your question, I’m not integrating WordPress users with wp emember (or vice versa).
What can I try next?
Thanks
martinMembergreat – thanks for the tip
martin
martinMembersorry, there shouldn’ be a coomma in the first line, it should simply read:
” the former setting is the correct one and the latter was blank,”
martinMemberHi there,
I have checked these and the former setting is the correct, one and the latter was blank, so I tried playing with permutations of the three different places the url can be set (ie setting it in each one but not the other two, then swapping which one has the setting in it etc) but the result is still the same wherever the url is set (even if it is set in all three places).
Also, the fact that I get redirected to the wp-admin page after loging *out* (as opposed to being redirected to the thank you page url) might mean that the problem lies somewhere else?
Hope that helps
Thanks
martinMemberDoh, make that the WordPress Twenty Eleven theme…
martinMemberHi Peter, the test site is [http://pettipher-young.co.uk]
I swapped out the theme to the standard 2012, and disabled all the plugins, and the results are exactly the same.
The settings are follows:
Login page: [http://pettipher-young.co.uk/member-login/]
After Login Page: [http://pettipher-young.co.uk/living-gracefully-the-best-we-can/]
And in General Settings, I can confirm that the WordPress user integration settings are *not* enabled
I have also discovered the following:
The same redirection occurs after loging *out* as a site member – ie, I end up at wp-admin (with exactly the same url as I quoted in my first mail)
In General Settings, if I uncheck ‘Enable After Login Redirection’ – the redirection to wp-admin no longer occurs
It’s not specific to my membership details – it happens with other member logins too
It’s not specific to my machine (not sure if that makes any difference!)
Finally, just to confirm, the version of e-member in question is 7.8.1. I was using 7.5.3 (and still am on the main site) with no problems – the reason for trying out the upgrade is to stop all the comments being protected individually, as this looks a bit messy and will only get more so as the comments mount up.
Hope that can help in looking for a solution. If you need any more information please let me know.
Many thanks
February 10, 2012 at 12:57 pm in reply to: Credit / debit card subscriptions paypal but without a paypal account #41271martinMemberBack again with an update,
I just spoke to someone different at PayPal and I was told that I didn’t need to upgrade my account at all – but instead could have the credit/debit card option for subscription payments by activating ‘Premium Services’ on my existing Website Payments Standard account. This does not seem to be accessible through my regular profile pages, I had to log in the paypal and then search ‘Premium Services’ and set it up that way.
Go figure…
January 27, 2012 at 9:26 am in reply to: Credit / debit card subscriptions paypal but without a paypal account #41269martinMemberHi, back again. PayPal have said that this is not the case, with my current (free) Website Payments Standard account, I need to upgrade to a (paid for) Website Payments Pro account.
I’m happy to do this, it’s not an issue now that I know, I just wanted to make you aware so that you can let others know that subscription payments can only be handled by the ‘Guest Checkout’ option if you have a paid for PayPal account.

Thank you
January 25, 2012 at 11:43 am in reply to: Hiding content that was published prior to subscription #40456martinMemberBrilliant, that’s exactly what I was looking for – thanks very much
January 9, 2012 at 10:31 am in reply to: Hiding content that was published prior to subscription #40454martinMemberHi there – I read the post you recommended, but I’m still not quite sure if what you suggest is the solution or not, as I maybe didn’t explain myself very well.
The idea is *not* that each new subscriber will recieve week 1, then week 2, week 3 etc., based on the date they have joined (which is what I understand by the term ‘dripping content’ – like for a weekly course which must be delivered in a set order), it’s that everyone who is a subscriber at a given time will get access to the same weekly blog post at the same time. For example, on week commencing March 5th, all subscribers (regardless of when they joined) will access the blog post for that week – as it will be time sensitive and relevent to that specific week.
What I’m trying to do is make it so that a person who has subscribed in, say, January, will have access to all the previous weekly blog posts they have read since joining (so they can review them if they like) but that a new subscriber who joins on, say, March 2nd, will only have access to the blog posts from March 5th onwards, which is the next published post (and would therefore have to ‘buy’ back issues – for want of a better way of describing old content – if they wanted to).
Hope that’s a bit clearer, and any advice would be great. Thanks
Martin
