Hi there,
I just uploaded a new version of the eMember plugin to the test version of my site, and now, when I go to login as a member of the site, when I have completed the username and password I am redirected to the wp-admin screen which displays the following url:
If I press the back button, I find I am logged into the site as a member (the page tells me my account typ eand expiry etc), so that bit is obviously working.
But why the redirect – I have not used any of the settings for creating a wordpress user account for members or anything like that.
Any help would be great. Thank you
March 29, 2012 at 11:35 pm #43538PeterMemberHi, Just to be sure… what value have you entered in the following section of eMember?
WP eMember settings -> Pages/Forms Settings -> Login Page
Give us a link to your site?
Can you please also do the following tests to see if there might be another plugin (or your theme) which is conflicting with eMember:

March 30, 2012 at 9:37 am #43539martinMemberHi Peter, the test site is [http://pettipher-young.co.uk]
I swapped out the theme to the standard 2012, and disabled all the plugins, and the results are exactly the same.
The settings are follows:
Login page: [http://pettipher-young.co.uk/member-login/]
After Login Page: [http://pettipher-young.co.uk/living-gracefully-the-best-we-can/]
And in General Settings, I can confirm that the WordPress user integration settings are *not* enabled
I have also discovered the following:
The same redirection occurs after loging *out* as a site member – ie, I end up at wp-admin (with exactly the same url as I quoted in my first mail)
In General Settings, if I uncheck ‘Enable After Login Redirection’ – the redirection to wp-admin no longer occurs
It’s not specific to my membership details – it happens with other member logins too
It’s not specific to my machine (not sure if that makes any difference!)
Finally, just to confirm, the version of e-member in question is 7.8.1. I was using 7.5.3 (and still am on the main site) with no problems – the reason for trying out the upgrade is to stop all the comments being protected individually, as this looks a bit messy and will only get more so as the comments mount up.
Hope that can help in looking for a solution. If you need any more information please let me know.
Many thanks

March 31, 2012 at 6:53 am #43541adminKeymasterWhen you disable the redirection in the settings it stops which tells me that the URL value is most likely coming from one of the other places where you can specify the after login redirection URL.
Please check the redirection value in the following area of the membership level menu
Membership Level -> Redirect After Login
Also check the redirection value in the individual member’s profile (this option was added recently so this could be the one causing the issue):
Members -> Edit a member profile -> After Login Page URL
April 1, 2012 at 8:20 am #43542martinMemberHi there,
I have checked these and the former setting is the correct, one and the latter was blank, so I tried playing with permutations of the three different places the url can be set (ie setting it in each one but not the other two, then swapping which one has the setting in it etc) but the result is still the same wherever the url is set (even if it is set in all three places).
Also, the fact that I get redirected to the wp-admin page after loging *out* (as opposed to being redirected to the thank you page url) might mean that the problem lies somewhere else?
Hope that helps
Thanks
April 1, 2012 at 9:05 pm #43543martinMembersorry, there shouldn’ be a coomma in the first line, it should simply read:
” the former setting is the correct one and the latter was blank,”
April 2, 2012 at 12:59 pm #43544adminKeymasterSent you an email to get site access so I can check it out.
April 3, 2012 at 3:38 am #43545adminKeymasterTurned out that the following WordPress function is not working out in this install of WordPress.
wp_safe_redirect
Another user was having a similar issue so we have now updated the eMember plugin to use a different method to redirection. I have given you this updated version of eMember and it seem to be working fine now. Please check it out.
