    Hi

I think I have a bug in my instalation. Whenever anyone tries to register they get the message “The email address you are using is already taken!

Please choose a different email address. “

They get this despite using unique email addresses. I only have 5 users registered in total but this happens evry single time so as a result no one new can register…which as you can imagine is a mahor drawback for a membership site!

Any urgent assistance will be greatlty appreciated.

    Many thanks

I should also add that I have checked and double checked that the email addresses have not been used previously and I have deleted and re-installed the plugin as per the instructions here…https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins but still the problem persists.

Further update is that it looks like the users are being updated and the email is being sent so it looks like the message is erroneous. So the problem now is why is that message displaying and how do I stop it?

What version of WordPress and eMember are you using? Please post a link to your registration page.

My issue is not with the join in feature.. That one works. But when the new member gets the activation link and completes their user and password information, this message appears “Input error: Invalid referer” where the catcha is suppose to be located. How do I fixed this problem?

Another issue is that when I go in to register on behalf of the new member and check the box to send a notification to them that they are now active, no email is being sent.

I have fixed the issue. Please disregard my request regarding “Input error: Invalid referer” error. I just canceled the captcha and changed the page number and created a new captcha and everything worked

I have the same issue as in51der:

Whenever anyone tries to register they get the message “The email address you are using is already taken!

This happens although the activation email is sent to the email box.

    Please help.

This user most likely exists in your WordPress users list. Please go to the users menu and verify if this email address is being used by any WP Users.

Here are some related posts where other users faced this issue:

Thanks for your response. The users were not registered as WordPress users. However, when I unchecked “Free Members Must Confirm Email”, the issue was solved.
