August 23, 2012 at 11:06 am in reply to: WP eMember Question: How Do You Display ALL of a Users Membership Levels? #48178ZainParticipant
Hi Admin,
LOL… I was just about to ask another related question to this one, then came back to find this thread I started. Looks like my question might just have been answered! Nice.
Okay, so I’ll upgrade the plugin and test out the new shortcode. This will help a great as it would be good to be able to display all levels.
I’ll come back to the other question if this shortcode doesn’t satisfy my client. I think it may be okay though…
Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Zain
August 9, 2012 at 11:38 pm in reply to: Question: How To Mass Import WishList Member Users to WP eMember (with Levels)? #48102ZainParticipantAdditional Issue
When using the manual “Import WP Users” feature, eMember is NOT preserving any purchased levels. Instead, this feature “upgrades” a User’s membership level without remembering any previously purchased levels.
Example
- User signs up for the Free level.
- User purchases Membership package 3.
- User purchases Membership package 1.
- Admin decides to upgrade all Users to Membership package 4
- User finds Membership Level 1 goes missing (as it’s been upgraded to Package 4).
Again, this is partly an issue with the importing feature logic. There’s no check against previously purchased membership levels in WP eStore, which should ideally be stored as “Secondary Levels”.
It’s similar to the eMember/eStore shortcode integration issue I raised in this thread: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/emember-v812estore-v676-purchase-history-shortcode-errors
Need To Import Users Into Secondary Levels
Anyway, I’m still looking for a way of importing Users quickly into Secondary levels – there’s well over 1000 to add and if the “import” simply “upgrades a user” then this means that 1000+ Users will need to be *manually* added to secondary levels.
Any suggestions about the best way of doing this? Importing 1000+ users manually isn’t something I’m looking forward to!
Thanks in advance.
ZainParticipantHi hopper12,
By the sounds of things the “purple button” you mention sounds like it may be your theme that’s adding the colour. A way of checking is to swap back to the default WP Twenty Eleven theme and then checking the button again. If the button is grey (like in the demo), then it’s your theme making it turn purple. You’d need to know CSS to change it back…
It’s also possible to change the look of the button by uploading an image. Have a look at the documentation on this page:
(scroll down to the section on How to use a Custom image as the ‘Add to Cart’ button)
For more add to cart buttons that you can upload, have a look on this page:

Good luck with it.

August 9, 2012 at 10:43 pm in reply to: How do I reinstall WP eStore? How do I find the files to download? #48239ZainParticipantHi katiemcclain,
I usually go to this link to get an “Automatic Update”:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/update-request
Click on the “Request Automatic Update” link and then you’ll need to use your original PayPal details (name, transaction ID, email address etc.).
Good luck with re-installing the plugin. Remember to read the upgrade instructions you can find on this page:

August 9, 2012 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Question: How To Mass Import WishList Member Users to WP eMember (with Levels)? #48101ZainParticipantHi,
As Affiliates of Aweber, I guess you may already have seen the “MemberMouse” platform. What I found interesting is that they actually provide a way of migrating customers from WishList Member in the form of a plugin.
Not sure if you’ve seen their documentation, but I hope that it may help to provide the eMember team with some ideas about how to do the same.
Here’s the link to how to manually migrate WishList members using SQL for the Member Mouse platform:
http://www.membermouse.com/support/member-management/migrating-wishlist-users/
I’m hoping at some point, an Add-on for eMember will be created that will do the same. Migrating users is essential – I know a lot of people would like to move, but simply can’t because they don’t know how/don’t have any easy way of doing so.
As a final thought, will eMember have an Add-on for helping users to migrate from MemberMouse in future? I sure hope you guys will!
Cheers,
Zain
PS: I’ll be going through those docs to see if I can find a way of migrating the 1000+ users from WishList to eMember… *sigh*
August 9, 2012 at 6:05 am in reply to: WP eMember Question: How Do You Display ALL of a Users Membership Levels? #48176ZainParticipantHi Admin,
…thought you may say that. However, doesn’t that pull back just the ID numbers of the membership levels (comma separated) from the “more_membership_levels” field in the database table?
I think the bit where the ID numbers are then associated to the Membership Level names is missing…

August 7, 2012 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Coupon Error Message – Cart does not meet the minimum requirement for this coupo #41577ZainParticipantHi AuthorYourDreams,
This may help – it’s the Automatic Update feature for getting a fresh version of the plugin(s) you’ve purchased.
Click on the “Request automatic update” link.
You’ll need your original email address and PayPal transaction ID.
I use this all the time, and it’s definitely a page I’d recommend bookmarking!
Hope that helps.

ZainParticipantHi koudonk,
Just wondering – do you have a second lightbox plugin installed and activated? I was just checking out your site and that’s what it looks like…
I don’t personally use WP Lightbox Ultimate, but I think I read somewhere that only 1 plugin should be used.
Hope that helps.
ZainParticipantHi MartinHO,
There’s an option on the Settings page of WP Affiliate – it’s called “Your Tips & Tricks HQ Affiliate ID”. Just check the “Turn off the affiliate ID display section (this will turn off the powered by section in the affiliate area)”
That’s what I did and it seems to be fine…
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Zain
PS: Alternatively, you can sign up as an Affiliate and then put your Affiliate ID number on there. That way, you’d get paid if anyone did actually click on the link… just a thought!
August 7, 2012 at 9:27 am in reply to: WP Affiliate (Tweak): Creatives Code Area Shows HTML P and BR tags #48118ZainParticipantDOH…!!! Actually, I’ve just checked. That “Description” field is only for *internal* use, isn’t it?!? :$
Would be good if the Description was added to the front-end output… Sometimes, people need to know various bits of information (e.g. “Please don’t use this banner until yyyy-mm-dd etc.).
Thanks again!
August 7, 2012 at 9:23 am in reply to: WP Affiliate (Tweak): Creatives Code Area Shows HTML P and BR tags #48117ZainParticipantYes, it is in the Code area. However, unlike the “Banners/Links” add/edit screen, the “Creatives” area does not contain a field to add notes for the Affiliate.
If there was one, I’d put messages in a “Notes” field or similar, then the link could go into the “Code” part. That way a useful description could be provided about what the creative is, and how to use it.
Where else can I put a message for the Affiliate?
Ideally…
It would be useful to have a straight link to uploaded zip files (or other resources), rather than having to put a message up for the Affiliate about what to do. A Resources tab and a feature to upload files would be a nice to have…
Cheers,
Zain
PS: I can read the Code block… maybe I’m not human!
August 7, 2012 at 9:10 am in reply to: PayPal Has Started Limiting Mass Payments To Companies #41595ZainParticipantHi,
I just experienced this “eligibility” issue on my PayPal account but have managed to fix it.
For some reason, I had to sign-up again for the Mass Payments with a Business Account (I thought I already had one!).
Anyway, here’s the link to the PayPal page:
https://www.paypal.com/kr/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_batch-payment-overview-outside
Click on the Sign-Up button and fill in the form (again!)… seems to fix the issue. I can now see the Mass Payment Screen.
Hope this is useful.
Cheers,
Zain
ZainParticipantHi streidl,
I see what you mean, and you’re right – the coupons codes are only usable with the cart.
Well, thinking a way around the problem (rather than hacking the plugin – trust me, you don’t want to do that!), one interesting idea I saw very recently is to offer a “Cashback *After* Purchase”. Funnily enough, it was an advert on a site that offered money back on WP eMember if you bought through their link…
Anyway, I thought it was interesting because in order for the user to get the cashback, they had fill out a form after they made a purchase (including PayPal transaction ID).
The thing about this is that quite a lot of people can’t be bothered to fill out a form to get their cashback! Quite a sneaky marketing idea, I thought – either way, the site owner would win (especially if people didn’t make a claim).
I realise this isn’t what you’re looking for, however I’m just adding it as a suggestion and a way of looking at other alternatives. Maybe it’s something you might want to consider (or not) as an alternative.
I suppose the real question to consider is “How important is it that users can only select 1 membership level?”. Personally, I trust my site readers are intelligent enough not to order something twice… saying that, I did have someone do just that recently (I offered a refund and they said “keep it”. Winner! ).
Good luck with it!
ZainParticipantOh… as an additional thought – remember that with WP eMember/eStore it’s also possible to “upsell” a Member using some useful shortcodes. All that’s required is some pre-planning and thinking it through a bit…
What I tend to do is to use the following:
[emember_protected for=2 do_not_show_restricted_msg=1]
[wp_eStore_buy_now_button id=1]
[/emember_protected](see http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-protect-a-section-of-a-post-or-page-88 and the wp-estore_shortcode.pdf)
What this does is to show a message to users of Level 2 to buy the next level (without alerting any other level of this message – i.e. no “content protected” message!).
This way, you can show users a buy button for the next level.
Hope that’s useful to you.
Cheers,
Zain
ZainParticipantHi streidl,
Not sure if this helps, but the way I avoid unnecessary steps in the payment process for Membership sign-ups is simply to use an “Buy Now” button instead of the “Add to Cart”. This completely bypasses the cart portion and takes them straight to PayPal.
For how you do this, see this page:
The way I figure it is the details are already listed and the customer has their wallet out already – why put them through a cart page/widget as well?
If they do make an error when signing up, then it’s always possible to refund them. I tend to find that usually people check before buying things, so it’s rare that refunds are required…
Anyway, hope that helps.
Cheers,
Zain
