Another update. I have found the issue is I am using wp-types to create the custom post type and it works ok.
However the recipes post type is a parent of nutrients custom post type.
And this doesn’t work nicely with eMember. For some reason i can protect the posts ok in:
eMember -> Membership Level -> Manage Content Protection
however if i try changing the protection in the individual post it doesn’t work. The settings don’t save.
Can someone help please as this is as far as I can trouble shoot. Thanks
robmac74MemberOk, i have found part of the problem. I was using protection shortcode in a header widget to protect some content in the header. However it seemed to cause issues in the main content so I have removed it.
However now my issue is I can’t protect my “Recipes” which are a custom post type from the eMember protection options on the post. The toggle doesn’t change from “No” to “Yes” or vice-versa.
I can however protect it if I go into the bulk content protection in membership levels.
However it does work if i create a new recipe, just doesn’t work anymore on the old ones.
Any ideas please?
robmac74MemberOk, I have narrowed it down to my theme been the issue. Or a problem between the theme and the plugin. I am using Genesis Framework with Dynamik Website Builder. If i switch to a different Genesis theme then the content protection works.
Are you aware of any issues with Dynamik and eMember?
Can you point me in the right direction please to trouble shoot?
Thanks.
Regards,
Rob.
robmac74MemberThank you very much, thats brilliant.
robmac74MemberJust to update you, I have tested this with all plugins deactivated apart from eMember and I still have the same problem. Also I switched themes and still no joy.
If you could advise what to try next please.
Is this possibly a bug? I am using eMember v9.0.1, is this the latest version?
robmac74MemberJust in case its important the actual message is “access forbidden”
robmac74MemberThe only way i managed to give editors access was to install User Role Editor and give the capability manage_options (which wasn’t ideal as then editors gained access to other things in wordpress which i didn’t want them to)
robmac74MemberHi, Thanks for your reply. To clarify, when I give editors access they can see all the menu items. However when they click on “Membership Levels” they can see the levels. But when they then click on edit to edit a membership level it says something like “access denied”.
This is the same if they click on membership level -> manage content protection. Although this time instead of a message it just doesn’t load up the content to protect.
I have tested this on 2 different sites and same results. Can you please confirm if when you try it that it works ok for you that editors can edit membership levels?
robmac74MemberCan I ask is it by design that wordpress editors can’t access the Membership Levels and also Manage Content Protection or is it a bug?
I think its crucial that editors access this functionality.
It seems odd that editors can access the settings menu (which is far more dangerous in my opinion) yet can’t access membership levels to create a new one or extend the expiry date.
Can you please let me know how I give my editors this access?
robmac74MemberIt is build into eMember. Please read carefully my question and also the thread you pointed me too which is now obsolete.
I have now installed user role editor pro. However I can’t block the eMember settings as there is also a tab under eMember in the dashboard called “settings”. Any idea how i can block editor access to settings? (without blocking access to the other eMember options Members and Membership Level)
Thanks.
robmac74MemberThanks, I read that but reading through the thread I presumed that functionality is now build into eMember? Yet still doesn’t solve my problem.
robmac74MemberThank you very much
February 25, 2016 at 12:51 pm in reply to: How to hide admin top bar from logged in subscribers #45890robmac74MemberHi,
That is fantastic. However I don’t give my clients admin access for obvious reasons, however they still need to edit the site.
It would be great to allow editors to also see the admin bar. (or better still let you tick which roles can see the admin bar).
Thanks.

Rob.
robmac74MemberI found a solution by using slimstats plugin in case anyone needs to do this. Thank you.
