Thanks very much for the help, I’m still a bit confused though.
1. I’ve created 4 membership levels:
– “member” – only has access to member info and payment pages
– “demo” – is able to access the demo page for 10 days plus “member” level pages
– “month” – is able to access paid material for 30 days plus “member” level pages
– “year” – is able to access paid material for 1 year plus “member” level pages
I’ve set up the membership levels and page protections as explained in the docs and your reply but I’m not sure it will work as I am expecting.
What I want to happen is that when someone initially registers on my website, they are given a “demo” membership level. Then at the end of 10 days they are reverted to a “member” level membership.
Similarly for paid subscribers, when they pay for an upgraded membership, they have access to that membership for that period of time. Then at the end of their period, they are reverted back to a “member” level membership.
2. Ok, so I take it that if someone pays for a 1 year membership and then cancels, I will need to manually stop their access. Not an ideal situation, but hopefully there are so few cancellations it doesn’t become an issue.
gobigkahunaMemberCould I get a serious answer to the second half of question #2 and all of #3 please? I’ve read the tutorials and searched the forums but haven’t found answers to my questions:
2. If eMember thinks it’s a new membership, how is that purchase linked to the user when they sign up for a membership? Is it using their email address?
3. So does “unsubscribed” really mean that their access to the paid information will continue until their previously paid subscription (now refunded so no longer paid for) would have expired? So for example, a customer pays for a 1 year membership, changes his mind, I refund the money, but his access will continue until I’ve manually closed his membership?
gobigkahunaMemberThanks, yes, that’s the page I was referring to. I also received your email and everything seems to be working. Thanks!

No, I’m not.
September 23, 2013 at 7:53 pm in reply to: Different download protection for different security levels #57871gobigkahunaMemberThanks Keith. That helps a bit, but one thing it doesn’t prevent is if a “gold” member shares a link to file with a “bronze” member. Is there anyway to “hide” the URL of the downloaded file?
gobigkahunaMemberNo, I wasn’t, so I went ahead and fixed it. Thanks!
gobigkahunaMemberSon-of-a-gun… I tested this a half dozen times yesterday and this morning without success. I just now gave it another try and now it works. Weird, eh? I also double checked with my provider and my server’s settings. The only thing I see that I can change is the version of PHP (it’s currently set to 4.0). I guess this is fixed, although I don’t know why it didn’t work yesterday.
gobigkahunaMemberI’ve tried this numerous times without success. I checked the logs and they are empty. I’ve checked with my provider but they don’t know what could be causing this. I’ve not run into this before with my other site. I’m at a complete loss as to what could be causing this. Any other ideas? Unless I can fix this I won’t be able to use eMember.
gobigkahunaMemberJust tried that and the logs are empty. According to the link you posted, it seems that the log is used for payment debugging. I haven’t tested that yet, I’m just trying to get emails (such as registration notification or lost password notification) working.
gobigkahunaMemberThanks, I’ll study that as well.
One bit of feedback from a new customer, it seems that you have a lot of really good information on your website but it’s nearly impossible to find. Looked around the documentation but didn’t find any links to the two articles you both posted. A full list of articles and the ability to search the docs would sure be helpful.
Also, I wasn’t able to search the forums for answers to questions I had and wasn’t able to register on the forums until after I bought the product. I’m sure you’ve set this up to block spammers but it would have been very helpful to be able to find answers to my own questions rather than via emails to your sales dept. Since we’re on opposite sides of the planet that meant waiting a day to find information that I probably could have found myself.
Just my 2 cents / euros worth. Otherwise your product seems to work as advertised and you’ve responded to all my emails. That gets high marks in my book. Thanks!
gobigkahunaMemberNot exactly what I had in mind but I think it’ll be close enough, thanks!
