I am going to stick my neck out and ask for another addition to eMember. A while back I wanted to give access to the membership system to the membership chair person without giving admin privileges in WordPress. So, I followed the instructions in another post and made the changes in the code. All was well, until I uploaded this new update. I had to give him admin privileges to gain access to eMember until I got around to making the changes in the code again. Would it be possible to add this feature to the control panel of eMember as a dropdown from which we could select the WordPress user level that can have access to the membership system? I don’t even remember where the forum thread was that explained the code modification. I will search for it, but please consider adding this feature.
Thanks,
Cemal
acekinParticipantHello again. This morning I installed the new versions of eMember and eShopping Cart and the requested features are working like a charm. Thank you. I think both software are better for it.
Thanks,
Cemal
acekinParticipantThanks a bunch. I will try these tomorrow morning when my brain is working a little better and let you know
Cemal
acekinParticipantThank you. Getting all the features at once will be great! I truly believe they will also add to the functionality and value of your software.

acekinParticipantA new type of membership will not work, at least in our case. We put the memberships anyone can purchase on our site, to become a member or to renew their membership. Even if I put the admin or editor class users in a special category as soon as they renew their membership by buying one of the visible membership types they lose user status in WordPress. The solution is really on the eMember end. A selectable option to honor the user level set in WordPress if one is available is the robust and clean solution. Could you please add this option to WordPress integration settings?
Cemal
acekinParticipantThanks for the pointer about the membership roles. It seems that I have to create a special category of users and manually add the person to that group. That will require watching who has the new position in, say, membership. Could this be simplified by an option on the eMember side? I am thinking of an option “Do not alter WordPress User Role” check box in the settings. If a user is promoted to Editor or Admin roles, eMember can honor the role specified. If a new member it applies the default level. That will be much more robust and internally consistent. I urge you to think about this as a feature suggestion.
Any idea when you may have some news on the first issue I raised regarding extending membership by adding 365 days to the end rather than starting from the date of renewal?
Cemal
acekinParticipantWhile at it, will you please look at this annoyance as well. If an admin or editor level user logs in from the front end it causes the WordPress user setting to be demoted to “Subscriber”. I locked myself out by renewing my membership, luckily I had a second login to use.
Cemal
acekinParticipantI will wait for the solution to the first issue. But I found the setting for the manual payment situation in the eStore and removed the check mark from Automatically Update Customer & Products Database setting. That I hope will take care of the second issue.
I will keep checking here for the solution of the first issue.
Thank you,
Cemal
acekinParticipantThank you Ivy, I got them and the update of WP eStore fixed that problem. The quantities now are accumulating. Thanks.
Cemal
acekinParticipantI requested a manual update request last night, I wonder if it made it to the right mailbox?
Cemal
acekinParticipantThe page is at:
http://www.keptlight.com/2012/08/free-emags/
The shortcode I am using is, and it works as you can see above:
[wp_eStore_free_download:product_id:32:end]
WP eStore version: 4.7.9
Thanks,
Cemal
acekinParticipantI created two products at $0.00 price, essentially free products for squeeze page downloads with a total quantity of 50 of each. There has been quite few downloads but the inventory section does not show any items downloaded, the number of “sales” is still at zero. Is it because of the price being zero or does it only work with the cart? If latter, is there any plans to include free products?
Cemal
acekinParticipantI do not have recurring payments set up intentionally. Is that something the subscribers can choose on their own?
Cemal
acekinParticipantOne more related question, why do some members have a subscriber ID and others do not?
Cemal
acekinParticipantUpdate:
I edited the member records where they had a comma in the address field. I either deleted them or changed them to a semicolon, that fixed the field shift. However, I am still getting the error message I reported in the previous post. I “seem to” have all the records but I am not sure at this point.
Thanks,
Cemal
