We’re seeing a weird behavior where members are not expiring when they should be. They receive the emails that the membership expired and they should renew, but the member is not actually set to expired in the Members list. Are there any specific things we should look for to fix this?

December 15, 2011 at 7:46 am #39669adminKeymasterCan you please load a fresh build of the plugin and then check this out:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
– What value do you have in the “Membership Duration” field?
– Are you using a subscription button or a one time payment button?
December 16, 2011 at 4:14 pm #39670vantagesmediaMemberWe updated to the newest version and will see what happens.
We have had trouble with multiple durations, including 1 day, 2 days and 1 week.
We have had trouble with both free and paid memberships. The paid memberships use the one-time PayPal payment.
Thank you.

December 20, 2011 at 5:14 am #39672adminKeymasterI have sent you an email to get site access so we can check it out.
Update: Turned out that the membership level duration settings weren’t set correctly.

August 20, 2012 at 11:06 pm #39674adminKeymasterHi, What version of eMember are you using? Did you recently update the plugin?
August 22, 2012 at 4:14 am #39675lindseyhardegreeMemberWe are using version 6.4.5
August 22, 2012 at 6:03 am #39676adminKeymasterThank you for the info. Previously the member account expiry check was performed at the time of logging in. So even though those accounts are not showing as expired, as soon as the user tries to log into the site, it will do the check and expire the account and prevent the user from viewing any protected content. Rest assured that those users won’t be able to access any protected content.
Recently, we have made some modifications in the plugin and now it will do the account expiry check every night and expire the account as necessary rather than waiting for the user to log in the next time.
Please get a new build of the eMember plugin from here and update the plugin so you can get this new under the hood enhancement:
August 24, 2012 at 5:31 pm #39677lindseyhardegreeMemberThat got it! Thanks so much for that assistance, we’re now seeing the expired people in our list of members. Is there an email list I can sign up for or something so that I get notified of plugin updates? Thanks again!
August 25, 2012 at 1:32 am #39678adminKeymasterWhen we release a major release we send out a notification to all of our customers. Full explanation here:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/how-and-when-do-you-get-an-update
It is possible for the notification emails to go to your spam folder.
June 18, 2014 at 10:09 am #39679jsakalosMemberHow does this checking for expiration work with account state “unsubscribed”? Because I see in member edit page for one of our customers, that he still has membeship level Monthly as primary and his account is active, although it should have ended on 16.06.2014.
We use multiple memberships:
Monthly member (paid) – Primary – 1 month duration, renews automatically
Free – Secondary – never expires
eMember version: 8.8.3
June 18, 2014 at 10:53 pm #39680adminKeymasterWhat value are you using in the “Subscription Duration” field of the membership level in question?
June 20, 2014 at 9:04 am #39681jsakalosMember1 month for paid memberships; free membership is “until cancelled”
June 20, 2014 at 11:33 pm #39682adminKeymasterI will take a look at your setup to see what is going on. I have sent you an email for it.
