I think you answered my question. My site will consist of an ever-growing list of pages, each of which is a single video with a unique name(Mary, Bob, etc). They are all the same price (eg $5.00 each). I will easily have 400 video pages within a year. Are you saying I can just add a membership “level” for each name?

I have estore working with APR links I’ll be using to sell my

    $1.00 birthday ecard(eg 10 views/3 days). I’m now trying to create

a second option: “unlimited” views (a virtual disc “VD”) of the

same videos being offered in option 1. I have just installed emember

thinking I could do this, but looking at it now, I’m not clear on

how. In the estore option , I’ve got a product page for each video

( with a short sample) and Buy Now button. For the “VD”, I wanted a

member to be able to view the embedded video as you had described

earlier (above). But how does that work? If content is viewed based on

membership level, how do I give a single member access to a

particular video(Michael, Mary, etc)and prevent access by all the

other members at the same level? I do NOT want to manually create pages

for customer IDs. Is there a way to accomplish this perhaps with the help

of estore? I’m hoping Ive just missed something obvious.

    thanks

Yea, I just copied all the shortcodes I need and am surviving my initiation into css so I’m taking up residence in the text editor. Thank you for a very entertaining explanation!

    I mostly use these two:

    [wp_lightbox_embed_protected_s3_video name=”h264-encoded-video.mp4″ bucket=”my-video-container” width=”500″ height=”400″]

    [wp_lightbox_protected_s3_video name=”h264-encoded-video.mp4″ bucket=”my-video-container” width=”640″ height=”480″ source=”http://www.example.com/anchor-image.jpg”%5D

Thank you. Also, is there any way to set the player so that when I click on fullscreen, it continues playing at the same point in the video rather than restarting from the beginning? And is there any way to set the player so that it closes when finished…also is there a loop setting?

    thank you.

    “What is a view?

Each click of the link counts as one view. If the link is clicked once at the beginning of a birthday party, and the kids watch the video 5 or 10 times, only one “view” will have been used.

So the above explanation will be correct?

    thanks!

In the case of the one-off ppv ecard, it seems like I can bypass the “gifting” idea, since it’s just a regular birthday greeting being sent and whoever gets the link watches the vid until it expires. Estore handles that option fine, correct?

In the case of the virtual CD, I am selling unlimited views (through refreshing) to only the member, and if the member is not the purchaser, then I need emember to both protect the content and make gifting possible. Do I have this right? Sorry if I’m belaboring this, but my skills are limited and mind is slow, so I want to know this is right before I set up a store and post several hundred videos! Thanks.

Great info. Yes, I could easily live with that, so I’ll soon add emember to my plans.

Thanks for the continued great support.

Sorry, questions just keep coming! Can a membership be “gifted”?

    thanks

thank you. So if I wanted to have the 2 options I mentioned, I could use estore for the 10-view, 1-week link, and emember for my virtual cd? Could you tell me how many steps are involved in a member “refreshing” their link. I am hoping that is a quick and easy process for people. And one other question: when you give the amount of time for an expiring link, say, 1 week. Does the link begin to expire it is delivered to the purchaser, or does the clock start ticking when the first viewing begins?

    thank you!

thank you. So I could automate all of that, and they could refresh an encrypted link

as often as they like. But let me understand…so the emember link would be available only to the member, but ultimately, they could just share it i guess?

I’m not sure I’ve explained myself correctly. I’m wondering if there is a way for the purchaser of the video card to input the birthday recipient’s email address(if different from their own) DURING thee purchase process, so that delivery to the birthday recipient

proceeds automatically, at the conclusion of the transaction.

Yes the user is paying for the card.

No, it’s not a membership site. I only sell one birthday video personalized by name.

    thanks!
