February 25, 2013 at 11:25 pm in reply to: Code snippet to view Members password in wordpress user profile #54046midifilestoreMember
Ok.
It’s more about me not knowing the password versus the client forgetting. The client can always change their password but if I, as the main administrator and owner of the goods supplied to the client, can’t see their password – that’s strange. If clients are buying product off me, I control all aspects of their account from setting them up to payments to giving them access etc – except their password. It doesn’t make sense because I control their whole user account so by me not knowing their password doesn’t give me any advantage over their account – I already control it!
As in my previous email, it’s more about controlling a protected spreadsheet.
I’m not sure what code snippet my boss’ web builder used, but it works.
Thanks.
midifilestoreMemberOh I do apologize – looks like I misunderstood you!
Will try that. Thanks.
Claude
midifilestoreMemberHi
I think you misunderstand me. I can’t even log into my wordpress back to tweak my site end because I can’t even find the wordpress login page for me to log into as an administrator?
midifilestoreMemberThanks muchly. You guys are always very helpful.
The plug in is great but I know how to embed a doc – the issue is I need to embed a doc that can be edited by a client live and then be saved live without having to download the doc or save it elsewhere.
I want clients to be able to view their own personal spreadsheets and be able to edit them directly from my WordPress website.
Weird huh?
midifilestoreMemberHi thanks for your reply.
I have already used eMember on another website and I know it’s power and I loved it!
My worry is not in protecting the page – I know how to do that – it’s more about the spreadsheet and what can I do?
I apologize because my original question was probably obscure.
In your answer above you wrote: “So all you need to do is find a solution that lets you place an editable excel spreadsheet….”
That’s the question I’m asking – do you know of any plugin or solution that can allow me to have an editable excel spreadsheet on a page (as big as a page) that clients can edit and save and the page stays there, rather than a downloadable link etc?
Thanks again! Claude
midifilestoreMemberHi. I already updated my WordPress last week and I do have eMember. I requested an update for eMember an hour ago which I received and applied and all my Members now show up again. Maybe it was a glitch in the WordPress update, not sure.
But all is working now, thanks.
Claude
midifilestoreMemberSorry. I’ve worked the stats problem out – my fault!
But my Members are still missing? Help?
midifilestoreMemberSorry, does that mean that I will have to add all my products again? 400 of them?
midifilestoreMemberThanks for your help. Always appreciated.
midifilestoreMemberAn extra note: When I read the material from a WP Member amin007 regarding encrypted links, in one paragraph she/he writes:
“With that said, the download directory comes with a .htaccess, .htpasswd and an empty “index.php” file by default” and then a few paragraphs later he/she says:
“If you have the empty “index.html” file in this directory even if someone was to find the location and browse the…….”
Can you confirm if in the empty file mentioned above by amin007 for extra protection of our files, is an index.php or an index.html
file?
Thanks. Claude
midifilestoreMemberAlso (when I find the restore settings button!) will that remove all my custom settings in WP eStore that I have set up?
midifilestoreMemberSorry to sound confused, but when I go to WP eStore, Admin Functions, there is no where on that page to restore settings to default – there is only the “Generate an encrypted download link” section, “Send emails to customers” section and a “Clear the encrypted download links table” section, and none of the sections have a Reset eStore Settings to Default button?
The issue with the client not being able to download the files began way before I looked at the “Download Validation Script Location” field.
Also should I have Should I have “Automatically Convert to Relative URL” ticked?
Thx.
midifilestoreMemberHi. Yes I copied the path where my file sits on the server and it works fine. When I clicked on the links the customer received in his email they didn’t work. I noticed the links in the client’s email are not pointing to the same path as the path to where my tracks sit on the server, yet when I edit the file in wordpress and check the Digital Download URL setting, it’s correct?
A couple of things:
1. Should I have “Automatically Convert to Relative URL” ticked?
2. I’m not sure if the “Download Validation Script Location” path is correct
3. I notice when I generate a link in the eStore back end, it has the correct path as a prefix but then ends with download.phpblah blah blah blah – should it have download.php as part of the path?
Now I’ve noticed that one of my pages is missing in my WordPress account!! page 39 of 59 is not there anymore. Hmmmm
I’m checking all the settings. I’m not sure. It all worked before…
midifilestoreMemberHi. This is an example of an error I receive.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.
midifilestoreMemberHi. It’s ok. I think I’ve figured it out. It’s dependant on the theme from what I can gather. If this is incorrect, please feel free to answer the above question!
