Okay. This is good to know. But something seems off to me here…
If I refer someone to a product on Amazon, are you saying that Amazon should pay me commission for anything and everything that customer purchases forever?
I used to be an affiliate for amazon and if someone purchased the book that I linked to, then yes – I got a commission. If that person later purchased a different product I never saw commissions on that. That would mean that EVERY PURCHASE ever made on Amazon.com by that customer – I would receive commission. That does not happen. Am I wrong here?
MFCMemberAlso…I’m trying to figure out exactly how the affiliate program works. If an affiliate sends a visitor to my site – that doesn’t count for them, correct? Only if they send them to the page where the visitor can purchase?
Just making sure I fully understand:)
MFCMemberHi! Thanks for the response!
2 questions:
1) My subdomain (flow.melissafostercook.com) is pointed at unbounce.com. (Unbounce is a self-serve hosted service that provides an easy way to create, publish & test specific landing pages.)
From what I’ve read, it seems that the satellite plugin must be installed under the subdomain url to function correctly; not my main url where estore + affiliate plugins are installed. Is this correct? I’m just trying to figure out if I install the satellite plugin in my WP account (running my main url) if it will function the way I need it to. Does this make sense?
2) Where do I get the satellite plugin?? I can’t find it on tipsandtricks.
MFCMemberCorrection on the last sentence of my post:
“I’m guessing the answer is no because the wp affiliate banner configuration won’t allow me to enter a subdomain as the target url.”
It actually did let me create the ad but it gave red warning message that the url wasn’t okay.
MFCMemberI just read this page (3) of this thread, I believe there is hope that this affiliate plugin will work for me!
My situation:
++
I use wp estore. My main site is WP and is [http://melissafostercook.com]
I use an outside service to create my landing pages, and must do so on a subdomain (flow.melissafostercook.com).
++
I use the wp-estore shortcodes on my subdomain landing pages so that when they click to buy it brings them to the checkout page on my main site! (I don’t use paypal, I have a merchant account through authorize.net)
Here is an example link to purchase from the subdomain:
[http://flow.melissafostercook.com/32nd-bday-coaching-discount/clkg/http/www.melissafostercook.com/?wp_eStore_add_to_cart=19]
++
My question: Since I am using my wpestore shortcodes on the landing pages, can I use the subdomain as the target url for my text and banner ads? Will it hold the tracking through the purchase? I’m guessing the answer is no because the wp affiliate banner configuration won’t allow me to enter a subdomain as the target url.
MFCMemberThat person who bought through a subscription appears in PayPal but not on the customers list in eStore or in AWeber.
MFCMemberNow we have had one person who bought through a subscription and they were not added to the AWeber list? Yet it is connected.

May 6, 2012 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Calling "Add to Cart" externally (adding product via a URL) #31754MFCMemberHaving trouble here; is the link not going to work on a page outside of the WordPress install? ie when using a landing page like Unbounce, and linking a button there using this code structure…it seems to send the user to a hanging page “you’ll be redirecting in 5 seconds, if you aren’t press “Buy Now” – which doesn’t work; actually worsens the hanging.
Thanks!
MFCMemberHere is the page that I have the link on:
http://www.melissafostercook.com/private-coaching-options/quick-impact/
It’s with the CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR QUICK IMPACT.
The thing is that it works with the button (shortcode) but not with the clickable link.
