Amin, off the top of your head can you think of another plugin that would be easy to install that uses the new short codes that I could test this theory with?
Apologies to keep bugging you but I want as much data in hand when I take this to Blair Williams, who wrote pretty link as possible.

kimjcastleberryMemberOh boy… now I see the two buy buttons (on each), but not the fancy boxes/images/price/etc on either. I’m going to guess after I updated the old site to Pretty Link Pro (from free) that I didn’t clear the cache last night.
Correct – if I deactivate the Pretty Link plugin (specifically Pro), it resolves itself. (Well, assuming I’m awake enough to clear caching which I forgot was on on the old site but still not enabled on the new site)
So the fact that upgrading Pretty Link to Pro on the old site did in fact stop the short codes ruins my theory of possibly rolling back to an old version of wp eStore until we had a better solution.
All those shortcodes I listed above, are on that page – and simply not rendering (although the basic buy button is getting through it seems) This makes it more perplexing that the buy button short code is working but none of the fancy ones.

kimjcastleberryMemberIf you manage that eavenue, please keep us updated
October 16, 2010 at 6:45 pm in reply to: Is there a forum software that works with your plugins #18143kimjcastleberryMemberI have eMember integrating with bbPress “sorta”. What I mean by that is that when a member joins as free or above, their default WP membership level is set to subscriber. Then install BBPress. Then install BBPress Integration for WP. Now in BBPress under WP Integration, set WP Subscriber = BBPress Member. Voila. Joining members are auto-magically part of the forum.
That said… while WP and BBPress both take “Role Manager”, there is no integration occurring there yet, so I can not pass off a personally created user-roll across this kind of share. I’m in need of doing that, so I’m still looking for a workaround, but for basic membership it works well.

kimjcastleberryMemberThis might be just what I needed. I have no quams with forcing them into my free membership level to access their history. This might work, thank you!
kimjcastleberryMemberAmin, thank you for your replies, you are a gem and a blessing!
Part 1:
That certainly makes sense for twitter+facebook if they purchase both at once. However, it doesnt solve if they buy Twitter as soon as its available (end of next week), and Facebook at a later date.
It sounds like perhaps I’m going to have to break down and allow these to be downloaded (yuck yuck and more yuck). That creates a whole second mess of problems including continuity of access over time, access to our community forum, and increase in the odds they wind up shared.
I suppose I could create the item+item levels, and include a notice that if they own a prior product it could be 48hrs before they gain access to the new product due to the fact that I would have to hand-promote them into that new level. It wont scale well and it reaches a level of chaos when they have item+item+item+item+item. However I can see the problem from a membership standpoint as well because frankly speaking a person cant be a member of two full levels at a time. What is needed is a way to recognize what that person already owns, and to find the next appropriate tier. However, I’m aware thats no simple task.
Any insight on another possible work-around that I might be overlooking?
Part 2:
The cookie issue makes a lot of sense and I’m glad to see there is a work around. What I don’t see is a way to give a link like that to my affiliates. Either I’m overlooking something or I simply not know the correct words to look for.
Would I use http://www.your-domain.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-platform/api/redirect.php?url=www.nanacast.com/myvideo as the link (assuming nanacast.com/myvideo was the intended destination) and allow the platform to auto-add the &ap_id=kim21 (unique to each affiliate of course).
If there is already a guide on this that I have overlooked I’d be more than happy to go do my homework! (but I couldnt find one)
Part 3:
It may be worth being aware of when you troubleshoot “WPMU” in the future to find out if the customer/client is still on a true WP MU site (which would be pre- WP 3.0) or has migrated to the new MS format that came with 3.0. WordPress MU is no longer a separate project; it is continuing development as part of the main WordPress branch under the name ‘multi-site’ or MS. This means that there was quite a bit of coding changes from the pre-3.0 to the new version. If you start seeing more hiccups this could be a place for you to look at. Generally speaking anyone that is setting up a new “WPMU” site today is actually setting up a WPMS and while it seems like its talking in circles you know how under-the hood code can cause hiccups. Really just throwing out the information as an FYI. I’m considering going to MS myself.
Thanks!
kimjcastleberryMemberYes I have eMember, Affiliate and eStore. I’m running both of the paid packages off the eStore/eMember. Can eStore handle a $0.0 product or a coupon code that reduces a cost to zero? I’ll have to look at the squeeze pages thanks.
kimjcastleberryMemberThank you wpCommerce. Apparently when I did an upgrade I didnt actually overwrite the old files and was still apparently looking at the old version which lacked “Manage Ads”. Once I realized I was likely still seeing an old version I made sure to delete the old copy of the files before uploading new ones. Problem solved. Thanks!
kimjcastleberryMemberIs there any available work around to cause the background promotion from the admin dashboard to signup to Aweber?
Or is there a way to do a $0.00 version of my product I can point them through? The goal here being to avoid re-charging them for what they’ve paid for.
kimjcastleberryMemberMaybe I should try rephrasing it. If I have a free member that is not on a list and I promote him manually (by hand or using the auto-promote) to a membershp tier that DOES have an associated aweber list, will he be added to it… or is that a unique feature of the original signup?
kimjcastleberryMemberIvy can you please point me to a page/document/guide on the site about adding this other creative copy? I still (post-update) only see settings for banners/links. I tried digging up affiliate plugin screenshots http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate/wordpress-affiliate-platform-admin-screens-17 and do not see things beyond banners and text links here either. Color me confused!

kimjcastleberryMemberThank you Ivy, reqest sent. It really hasnt been that long since I purchased these so I am a little surprised to have missed an update already! LOL Request sent! Thanks!
kimjcastleberryMemberAmin, I have a automation filter in Aweber that unsubscribes them from PBYOptin when they sign up for PBYMember. That part is taken care of.
If they purchase the PBY Membership, they get added to PBYMember and the automation removes them from PBYOptin if they were there.
All I need to do is to make sure when I promote them to PBYMember, rather than them going through a purchase, that they get added to PBYMember.
kimjcastleberryMemberI agree that this is something that’s needed. The affiliate tools area by default is not enough tools for the affiliates to do a good job. If you’d like an example of a well-built affiliate tools section please see http://www.maxblogpress.com/affiliate-signup/ (section once logged in, and inside the “promotional materials” per product).
kimjcastleberryMemberMike did you ever get ARP3 fully integrated?
