I apologize if this question is somewhere here. I tried the searches and could not turn up what I’m looking for.
We are moving from a previous paid membership community. I have a free membership which gets auto added to the PBYOptins Aweber list. (Works great!). I have a paid membership which gets auto added to the PBYMembers Aweber list. (Still need to test but assume it works fine.
I asked my paid members from the previous site to sign up as new free members here (so they’d get their username, password and affiliate account all made at once). Free since I don’t want to charge them again. I assumed I could use the “promote” or manual change of their membership level to move them into a paid membership access tier.
When they sign up as free members, they got auto added to PBYOptins. If they would sign up as paid members they would be added to PBYMembers.
So here is the question: Which way of promoting them to the next level do I need to use to ensure that they are auto-added to the aweber list for that tier? If I just go WP eMember -> Members -> Manage Member -> Edit Member -> and set Membership Level to the new level, will this work?
Second question: I understand that if a person is on subscription and they cancel their subscription their membership status goes into unpaid/suspended. However, I’d like to make a plan that is x$/month for 12 months and on the completion (successful payoff) they get lifetime access. I know I can not promote a subscription plan onto a static plan since paypal would not understand that. However if the payment plan successfully finishes without a cancellation, will the individual remain active or become unpaid/suspended?
Thank you!
Kimberly

AWeber do not allow you to change the members from one list another after they have signed up. So if person A has signed up to “list1” you cannot move him to “list2”. This person will have to sign up to “list2” again for this to happen!
“I’d like to make a plan that is x$/month for 12 months and on the completion (successful payoff) they get lifetime access” – You can use the “Auto Upgrade” feature for this scenario. Setup auto upgrade to upgrade the member to a “No-expiry” membership level after 12 months and that should do the job.
July 18, 2010 at 11:24 am #22537kimjcastleberryMemberAmin, I have a automation filter in Aweber that unsubscribes them from PBYOptin when they sign up for PBYMember. That part is taken care of.
If they purchase the PBY Membership, they get added to PBYMember and the automation removes them from PBYOptin if they were there.
All I need to do is to make sure when I promote them to PBYMember, rather than them going through a purchase, that they get added to PBYMember.
July 18, 2010 at 7:21 pm #22538kimjcastleberryMemberMaybe I should try rephrasing it. If I have a free member that is not on a list and I promote him manually (by hand or using the auto-promote) to a membershp tier that DOES have an associated aweber list, will he be added to it… or is that a unique feature of the original signup?

Nope, background promotion from the admin dashboard won’t signup to AWeber. The user has to do the action to be able to fire off the AWeber signup.
July 19, 2010 at 1:57 am #22540kimjcastleberryMemberIs there any available work around to cause the background promotion from the admin dashboard to signup to Aweber?
Or is there a way to do a $0.00 version of my product I can point them through? The goal here being to avoid re-charging them for what they’ve paid for.
July 19, 2010 at 10:23 am #22541amin007ParticipantAre you using eStore by any chance? if you are then the easiest to get someone signed up to any of your AWeber list is to use the squeeze page (please use the ajax version):
July 19, 2010 at 1:33 pm #22542kimjcastleberryMemberYes I have eMember, Affiliate and eStore. I’m running both of the paid packages off the eStore/eMember. Can eStore handle a $0.0 product or a coupon code that reduces a cost to zero? I’ll have to look at the squeeze pages thanks.
July 19, 2010 at 1:40 pm #22543amin007ParticipantThe squeeze page is all you need There is no need to make a product to $0.0 (PayPal won’t allow you to pass a $0.0 payment anyway)
