Absolutely, that seems like a good solution for all involved. Thanks!

How about: “Please confirm your shipping location by clicking the update button.”

Or, if this function is used by certain people for shipping options other than location, perhaps it would be better for it to be: “Please confirm your shipping option by clicking the update button.”

    Thanks!

Hmm ok…but it seems a little inefficient now to have to do a customization (and needing to customize each time eStore is updated), just to get this to not be an error/confusing for the user. I obviously don’t know how many people requested that things work this way, but I’d like to humbly state that I don’t think that this is an improvement (if it were optional it certainly would be). My client is already confused as to the process – here’s what he wrote:

“I got home last night and am checking through the store. I tried to buy an album and received an error message to click the update button.”

He thinks that it’s an error message – and I hadn’t even mentioned my own inquiry to you about it.

Is there any way make this change optional? That would really be best – but I’m not sure that just because some users missed their location selection that the process should become confusing for everyone.

Or, another solution would be to have it be that no location is selected by default, and the user must select a location from the dropdown before they can proceed.

Or, at the very least, can we have the default text for this not be an error/confusing? I think we can all agree that, “Please click the update button to finalize your change!”, when no change was made, just doesn’t make any sense. And it just doesn’t seem right to have to update language files for the rest of time to fix what is ultimately an error in eStore.

    Thank you….

Oh ok. Is it possible to have the initial message say something like, “Please click the update button to acknowledge your shipping location”?

It’s kind of confusing for the user for it to say “Please click the update button to finalize your change!” when no change was made.

Or, is it possible for this to be optional from within the dashboard? If it were, we would certainly turn it off. But as it is right now, it feels confusing to ask them to finalize a change that wasn’t made.

I am also looking to get the PayPal payment page to open in a new window. But I’d just like to check – if I edit the code within wp_shopping_cart.php, won’t this change get overwritten and lost the next time an updated version of eStore is uploaded?

I am having this problem now. Just tried doing a fresh install but it didn’t change anything. As soon as a product is added to the cart it automatically displays this text, “Please click the update button to finalize your change!”

This wasn’t happening previously – shouldn’t that text only appear when you change the shipping location?

Ok thanks. But now there is another problem happening. Once I enable those settings for some reason it is making it so that users can no longer log-in to their member accounts. They attempt to log-in, it appears to work and they begin to be sent to the after-log-in page, but then they get redirected back to the log-in page and the form is blank and they are not logged-in and there is no mention of what just happened. And it is impossible to log-in. I have confirmed this myself on multiple accounts.

In case it helps to understand what’s going on – the after-log-in page is also the page that is specified for ‘Enable Specific Page Lockdown’ and the log-in page is also the page that is specified for ‘Auto Redirect to a Specific Page’. So in this sense the after-log-in page is treating the user as if they are not a logged-in user. But the log-in page does not show an error when you log-in, rather it appears that you are being logged-in correctly and it then sends you to the after-log-in page, which then sends you all the way back.

At any rate something strange is happening. As soon as I enable these settings (‘Automatically log into WordPress: and Automatically log into eMember:), we suddenly become unable to log-in to member accounts as described above. As soon as I disable those settings the problem goes away.

    Please help, thanks…

Ok so I have created WordPress user accounts for our members – but BBPress doesn’t seem to be acknowledging the accounts when logged in through eMember like you say.

When logged in through eMember, if the forum is set to ‘Public’ the message reads ‘You must be logged in to create new topics.’ When the forum is set to ‘Private’ the page goes to 404. I am only able to view the forum if I am signed in to the WordPress dashboard.

Is there some other setting we have to turn on somewhere to get this to work?

    Thanks…

Ok, but will they have to change their password as it states?

    Ok great, thanks.

Just one thing – it says that the new passwords will be set to “changeme” (The user will have to change the password to their liking). I thought that it said in this thread that when a user signs-in to their eMember account, BBPress will recognize that and they will automatically be signed-in to the forum as well. How does this work – do they need to have two different passwords and sign-in twice?

Can you tell us how to create the corresponding wordpress user accounts for members that signed up before we had ‘Automatically Create WordPress User:’ enabled?

    Thanks!

Also, it does not let us search our members at all for additional membership levels. The search only seems to work for primary membership level. This is getting kind of critical for us. Why is the search capability so limited?

    Hi mbr,

    We are using eMember v8.7.5.

We have ‘Enable Secondary Membership’ enabled already, but we are only able to add membership levels by going into each account individually, one at time. We are wanting to add a secondary membership level to multiple members at once, it is costing us a lot of time to have to do it one at a time. Is there a way to apply membership levels to more than one member at a time?

Regarding the search – is it possible to have search functionality increased in the next release? It seems like being able to search for keywords and custom fields on the accounts should be a pretty basic and essential functionality. What then is the purpose of that search bar if we can’t actually use it to search?

    Thank you for the support…

Forgive me if I am missing the obvious, but I do not see anywhere that it explains how to apply a membership level to more than one member at once within the members list.

For searching the members list, we are using the search text field above the members list. Is there another way to search? Searching for ‘London’ for example, which many members have noted in a custom field on their account, retrieves 0 results. Nothing we type in except for name or username brings any results.
