Hi! I am noticing what appears to be a bug with the shipping variable options during checkout — Whenever the cart is displayed, it shows two lines with duplicate warning content, saying “Please click the update button to finalize your change!” When you select your country and click Update, one of them goes away, but the second one stays there, yelling at you to click the update button. (clicking it again has no effect).
The website is [http://www.stevencmusic.com/]
The code I used in the settings is as follows: Country|USA|Canada:2|Other:6
Any help please?
By the way I just bought this today, and really love it so far. Got all the products entered and am up and running in an hour. Thanks!

March 15, 2012 at 2:46 pm #38066jackplugMemberI recently had to download and install a fresh copy of the plugin and now I have this same error. I’ve tried yet another fresh install but no joy. Any advice please?

I’ve just visited your site and added a product to the cart and I don’t see any problem.
Is this issue still occurring for you?
December 23, 2013 at 9:06 am #38068clearscopeParticipantI am having this problem now. Just tried doing a fresh install but it didn’t change anything. As soon as a product is added to the cart it automatically displays this text, “Please click the update button to finalize your change!”
This wasn’t happening previously – shouldn’t that text only appear when you change the shipping location?
December 23, 2013 at 10:29 pm #38069adminKeymasterWe made a change in the plugin (after many people requested it). Now, when there is a shipping variation, the customer has to click the update button once to acknowledge the shipping choice (this way the customer can’t say, I didn’t know).
December 24, 2013 at 7:16 am #38070clearscopeParticipantOh ok. Is it possible to have the initial message say something like, “Please click the update button to acknowledge your shipping location”?
It’s kind of confusing for the user for it to say “Please click the update button to finalize your change!” when no change was made.
Or, is it possible for this to be optional from within the dashboard? If it were, we would certainly turn it off. But as it is right now, it feels confusing to ask them to finalize a change that wasn’t made.
December 24, 2013 at 10:39 pm #38071adminKeymasterYes, you can change that message to say that. Use the following technique to change that message:
December 31, 2013 at 6:45 pm #38072clearscopeParticipantHmm ok…but it seems a little inefficient now to have to do a customization (and needing to customize each time eStore is updated), just to get this to not be an error/confusing for the user. I obviously don’t know how many people requested that things work this way, but I’d like to humbly state that I don’t think that this is an improvement (if it were optional it certainly would be). My client is already confused as to the process – here’s what he wrote:
“I got home last night and am checking through the store. I tried to buy an album and received an error message to click the update button.”
He thinks that it’s an error message – and I hadn’t even mentioned my own inquiry to you about it.
Is there any way make this change optional? That would really be best – but I’m not sure that just because some users missed their location selection that the process should become confusing for everyone.
Or, another solution would be to have it be that no location is selected by default, and the user must select a location from the dropdown before they can proceed.
Or, at the very least, can we have the default text for this not be an error/confusing? I think we can all agree that, “Please click the update button to finalize your change!”, when no change was made, just doesn’t make any sense. And it just doesn’t seem right to have to update language files for the rest of time to fix what is ultimately an error in eStore.
Thank you….
December 31, 2013 at 11:31 pm #38073adminKeymasterI agree with the following:
have the default text for this not be an error/confusing
Please suggest a text message for it.
January 2, 2014 at 5:15 pm #38074clearscopeParticipantHow about: “Please confirm your shipping location by clicking the update button.”
Or, if this function is used by certain people for shipping options other than location, perhaps it would be better for it to be: “Please confirm your shipping option by clicking the update button.”
Thanks!
January 2, 2014 at 10:12 pm #38075adminKeymasterI like that. Now, some users (not many though) use that shipping variation to collect other details sometimes. So how about using something like the following (so it applies to shipping or anything really):
“Please confirm your selection by clicking the update button.”
Will that work for you?
January 7, 2014 at 5:20 am #38076clearscopeParticipantAbsolutely, that seems like a good solution for all involved. Thanks!
January 7, 2014 at 11:40 pm #38077adminKeymasterI have made the change in the plugin so the next version we release will have this change in there.
February 5, 2014 at 7:37 am #38078clearscopedesignParticipantWe continue to have complaints with people affiliated with our business that it’s a pain for our customers to have to update/confirm the shipping location by default.
Could we please, please have the option to not have this function be required?
Also we’ve had complaints that “Sometimes when people click on UPDATE, it empties the cart.”
Now, I can’t verify this last one as I haven’t personally been able to duplicate that problem. But forcing people to ‘update’ every time certainly increases the frequency of it if this is an issue.
Being able to make the forced ‘update’ not required would make things a lot easier for our customers and our store. I know that others have requested that it be required, but on our end it’s just making things a big hassle.
Could we please, please, pretty please with sugar on top, have the option within eStore settings to decide whether we want this function to be required or not?
Thank you!
