I did have one other question in relation to the above. If I want to create a membership level for former clients/customers who will pay through PP but will pay less than new members, do I just set up a different PP account for the lower priced membership and then set up the auto upgrade as described above. In other words, I would call this membership group – former clients – but would give them the same access as the premium membership – even though they will be paying a lower monthly fee through a separate PP account than the premium membership.

October 19, 2016 at 9:36 pm in reply to: How to drip fortnightly courses using WP eMember membership plugin #56608bob mMemberI have a similar scenario as described above. Each 30 days active members are upgraded to a new membership level so that they become eligible for new content. The auto upgrade feature works fine for this.
My questions is this – I have some people who will not be paid members (paid members pay monthly through PP) but I want them to have the same access to information as the paid members. They are early users and I have agreed to allow them to access content for free. I plan to add them as members by hand (there will only be a few). Will they continue to be active members even though they are not making a monthly payment through PP or Is there some setting I need to make so that the free users will continue to get upgraded access just like paid members? (I’ve read in the threads that when a paid member quits making PP payments, they are deactivated in the eMember plugin and can no longer get access to the information. I don’t want this to happen to the few free members I choose.
bob mMemberI’m having some issues getting set up properly with eMember. I’ve been going through the info and instructions but can’t seem to get it quite right. I have a couple of questions that, if answered, might help solve my Issues. I’m not providing a free membership but people sign up for a low cost 14 day trial and then pay a monthly membership fee. Members get new content each 30 days and I’m trying to set that part up on the auto upgrade feature. Here are my questions.
1) What is the default membership level? If you offer a free membership, is it Free? If you only offer a paid membership, what is the default membership level?
2) I initially set up with my join now page being on a separate WP installation than my actual membership site which has the eMember plugin installed on. In other words, I offer some free stuff but keep it on a separate WP installation. My join now page is on the WP installation with the free stuff. Then when people click the buy button (standard PP subscription), they are taken to the registration page (which is on the membership site or the site with the eMember Plugin installed and activated. Could the use of two separate site4s be causing me some problems? For example, when I try to run a test, and check out the member I have added through PP, the Membership Level is blank. My reason for making the join now page a separate page on a different installation of WP was that I have a nice looking custom join now page compared to the fairly generic looking eMember join now page. Can I customize the eMember join now page?
So this is the first site with the join now page
http://bizstartup101.com/join-bizstartup-now/
This is the second site with eMember installed and the protected info for paid members only. http://bizstartup101.com/privatemembers/index-of-training-sessions/
So again, the question is will having the join now page on a separate WP installation from the WP installation with eMember set up cause issues wi9th the plugin working properly?
bob mMemberI also like the plugin a lot but having some issues getting it set up right. I have a membership site that is using the auto upgrade feature to provide new content every 30 days. I seem to be having some problem with the default membership level – I’m not sure what it is and how I change it if needed. Although I’ve checked having a free level I’m not using the free level – rather the first level which I call – Gold-Training Level 1 – is the first level customers access after signing up.
I too, am having the problem of getting the message “You do not have access to view this content” This shows up after logging in and going to the “Gold Training Level 1” page. In the edit portion below on this WP page I have indicated that I want to protect the content but have given access to Gold Training Level’s 1 through 13 as shown below.
sample of my WP page edit in the lower part of the page
Do you want to protect this content?
No, Do not protect this content.
Yes, Protect this content.
Select the membership level that can access this content:
GOLD-Training Level 1
GOLD-Training Level 2
GOLD-Training Level 3
GOLD-Training Level 4
Gold – Training Level 5
Gold – Training Level 6
Gold – Training Level 7
Gold Training Level 8
Gold – Training Level 9
Gold – Training Level 10
Gold – Training Level 11
Gold – Training Level 12
GOLD – Training Level 13
What I trying to accomplish is to use the auto upgrade feature to provide members access to new material each 30 day period in which they pay their membership fee. So they are upgraded from Gold – Training Level 2 after 30 days etc. Actually, the first upgrade is after 14 days. Again, when I do a test, I cannot access the content for the first level which is Gold-Training Level 1 or any other level. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
bob mMemberIf I use the auto upgrade feature and members are upgraded every 30 days so they receive new content, will the members automatically have access to all prior content which they could access before they are upgraded. If not, what needs to be done so members will have access to all prior content each time they are upgraded?
As an example, if members are upgraded every 30 days for 6 months, will they still have access to content from months 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 when they are upgraded to month 6 or is there some programming to be done to make this happen?
bob mMemberThanks much for the quick response. I’m working on a membership site that will mostly provide information products in the form of videos and pdf’s.
