Thank you! I sent in the contact form just now.
November 18, 2012 at 1:31 am in reply to: eStore – product edits not saving – new product info not saving #51475alloneinvestmentsMemberThank you Admin. Unfortunately, these things did not work.
1. The problems with the site being slow and wp e-store not saving the edits actually started BEFORE I ever upgraded from the 1 and only e-store version I ever purchased. So the slowness and products not saving could not have been due to my not upgrading properly because they started before I ever upgraded and continued on after I upgraded.
2. Back in October 2012 (I’ve been trying to resolve this for awhile), I decided to upgrade thinking maybe that was the problem. When I upgraded – I followed Upgrade Method 1 listed here: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/plugin-installation-and-upgrade-instructions. I have since tried Upgrade Method #2 as well. And neither way solves the problem. I did the upgrade again today by 1) requesting a fresh copy of the plugin through autoupdate, 2) deactivating old plugin, 3) deleting old plugin and 4) using ftp to upload the new fresh copy of plugin into the plugins subfolder and 5) activating the plugin. This still did not resolve the slowness of the site and wp-estore new products are still not saving.
When upgrading:
b) I have not received any errors when activating the plugin.
c) I have not modified any database related code in the plugin without properly changing the table structures.
e) I have not had multiple copies of the plugin lying around in the “plugins” directory of your WordPress installation.
3. Re the URL validation: I opened the “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and searched for the following line of code: define(‘WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY’, ‘0’);
When I search my copy of the file “eStore_advanced_configs.php” in dreamweaver for the exact line of code listed above, I get the message that that string of test is not found. In fact the word “validity” or “VALIDITY” is not found throughout the entire file.
I have been trying to fix this for such a long time and I have new products that I can’t get out because I can’t save them in e-store. Is there anything else I could try? Please help. Thank you!
alloneinvestmentsMemberHi Peter,
I upgraded to version 6.9.1.7 of the estore plugin using Upgrade Method #1 listed on the estore upgrade instructions found here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wordpress-estore-installation-and-usage-guide-31. Method 1 required a deactivation of the plugin versus a full delete.
I will go and follow Upgrade Method 2 and deactivate and delete the plugin and then reinstall a fresh version.
Thanks for your help.
alloneinvestmentsMemberI am having a problem similar to this when editing products in e-store.
When I make changes to the product description field and old price field and then click save, the following happens:
1. It takes 42 seconds to save the product edits;
2. After the save, I receive “product updated” message on top of screen, but the product name, product price, and product description are all now blank on the screen.
3. When I go to “Manage Products” – the old version of the product displays and if click edit that same product from the manage products screen, none of the changes I previously saved are there. All the old data is there.
MY VERSIONS:
Site: simpleascension dot com
WP eStore Settings v 6.9.1.7
WP eMembers – Dashboard v7.2.3
WP Lightbox – General Settings v1.4.5
WordPress 3.4.2
Host: LivingDot
Apache version 2.2.23
MySQL version 5.1.65-cll
PHP version 5.2.17
Perl version 5.8.8
I have used the same hosting co/cpanel since 2009 and this problem seems to have just come up in the last 2 months.
My entire site is running much slower in the last 2 months, so I don’t know if this is a wp thing or an e-store thing. New plugins installed in last 2 months are wp-optimize and wp smushit.
The fact that the data is disappearing from the product name, product id and product description fields makes me wonder whether it’s an e-store thing. I can save and edit posts just fine.
WHAT I’VE DONE SO FAR:
I’ve cleared my browser cache but that didn’t fix it. I ran WP-Optimize and optimized all my tables, but that didn’t fix it. I haven’t tried the fix in the stream above where it’s suggested that we modify the eStore_utility_functions.php file because I want e-store to still automatically check to make sure my URLs are correct.
Thank you for your help!
January 1, 2012 at 12:21 am in reply to: Registration email incorrect & Multiple membership Levels for same account #24446alloneinvestmentsMemberI have a similar issue, but am confused about whether the above thread confirms what I want to do will or will not work. Thank you for your help with this.
I am trying to add a second free membership to my wordpress blog.
I’ve added the free membership registration shortcode [wp_eMember_registration_form_for level=7] to the page, so the registration form shows up.
However, when a paid member of the site tries to fill out the free membership registration form I added using the same username and email as their paid membership, the emember plugin gives the following error: “Email:The email address you are using is already taken! Please choose a different email address.” (Get similar error message regarding use of same username as well.)
Some of my paid members may not have more than 1 email address. Is there a way to setup the second free membership so that paid members can use the same username/email for their free membership?
– I have the button allowing secondary membership enabled in emember settings.
– I have free membership enabled in emember settings, but do not offer this first free membership anywhere on the site. (I just allow the basic free members to use the subscribe by email function instead.)
– emember version: v7.2.3

Thank you!
December 9, 2011 at 10:58 pm in reply to: e-member working but shortcodes show when logged in #17794alloneinvestmentsMemberThank you.
The youtube and wp lightbox ultimate amazon protected videos began showing up after I did the tweak recommended above. Thank you Admin!
In case this might be helpful to others doing this:
– I found the wp_eMember1.php file referenced in the above linked tips and tricks document by using my ftp program and searching the wp-emember plugin folder for that filename. I then clicked “edit” in my ftp prgram to edit the wp_eMember1.php file in Notepad. Once the file was open in Notepad, I used the Find feature of Notepad and searched for the exact code referenced in the linked tips and tricks document listed above, made the change as directed and then clicked “Save” and voila the videos showed up.
December 8, 2011 at 11:31 pm in reply to: e-member working but shortcodes show when logged in #17792alloneinvestmentsMemberI am having a similar issue.
I have a page with youtube videos installed on it using the video vipertags plugin and shortcodes.
When I add the “[emember_protected for=3-4-5]” opening and closing shortcodes to allow access to membership levels 3, 4 and 5, the youtube shortcode shows up as text instead of the video. When I remove the emember protection shortcodes, the youtube videos show up again.
Will you please help me fix this so the youtube shortcodes work and videos show up when I use the emember_protected shortcodes?
FYI, I’ll be installing wp lightbox ultimate soon as well and if I recall what you fixed the last time I had this issue on another site, it was a shortcode filtering priority issue?
Page URL involved:

I’m Using:
Wordpress 3.2.1
Thesis 1.8.2
Fremedy – Thesis Child Theme w/ 6 plugins
WP eMembers – v7.2.3
WP eStore – v 5.9.9.7
Thank you!
