I have protected a part of a post using the [emember_protected] shortcode. It works as expected when you are not logged in (it displays “this content is protected”). The problem is that when you log in it shows the starting shortcode.
You can view the post here: http://literacyteacher.com/teaching-literacy/4th-5th-and-6th-grade-readers-theatre-basketbrawl/

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
February 7, 2010 at 2:44 am #17785amin007ParticipantMost likely it’s conflicting with some other script. Can you please post a link to the exact page where you have the section protection?
February 7, 2010 at 2:46 am #17786amin007ParticipantNo need to post the link.. I see it now. Can you switch to the default wordpress theme to make sure the theme is not causing any issue?
February 7, 2010 at 3:21 pm #17787nickgoeMemberChanged to default theme and the problem persists.

February 7, 2010 at 3:33 pm #17788nickgoeMemberLooks like no single plugin is causing this.

Cheers,

I have three membership levels and I have put different buttons to give discounts to my suscribers. I’ve then used the [emember_protected] function (??) to conceal the subscribers buttons from members of different flavour. And now the buttons now just show as the shortcodes to the world. Not good ! Especially as I’m trying to capitalise on Google’s Superbowl “Parisian Love” advertisement video – but I can’t go for it until I have a way around this !! As a travel guide guy, I want to post a reply video showing my site ! – mp3travelclub.com

How to Protect a Section of a Post or Page (Partial Protection)
What version of eMember are you using?
December 8, 2011 at 11:31 pm #17792alloneinvestmentsMemberI am having a similar issue.
I have a page with youtube videos installed on it using the video vipertags plugin and shortcodes.
When I add the “[emember_protected for=3-4-5]” opening and closing shortcodes to allow access to membership levels 3, 4 and 5, the youtube shortcode shows up as text instead of the video. When I remove the emember protection shortcodes, the youtube videos show up again.
Will you please help me fix this so the youtube shortcodes work and videos show up when I use the emember_protected shortcodes?
FYI, I’ll be installing wp lightbox ultimate soon as well and if I recall what you fixed the last time I had this issue on another site, it was a shortcode filtering priority issue?

I’m Using:
Wordpress 3.2.1
Thesis 1.8.2
Fremedy – Thesis Child Theme w/ 6 plugins
WP eMembers – v7.2.3
WP eStore – v 5.9.9.7
Thank you!
December 9, 2011 at 9:45 am #17793adminKeymasterFirst of all you need to make sure that this other plugin has created the shortcode using WordPress’s shortcode API (shortcode nesting only works when they are implemented using WordPress’s shortcode API).
Once you confirm that then check this post and do the tweak to see how it goes:
December 9, 2011 at 10:58 pm #17794alloneinvestmentsMemberThank you.
The youtube and wp lightbox ultimate amazon protected videos began showing up after I did the tweak recommended above. Thank you Admin!
In case this might be helpful to others doing this:
– I found the wp_eMember1.php file referenced in the above linked tips and tricks document by using my ftp program and searching the wp-emember plugin folder for that filename. I then clicked “edit” in my ftp prgram to edit the wp_eMember1.php file in Notepad. Once the file was open in Notepad, I used the Find feature of Notepad and searched for the exact code referenced in the linked tips and tricks document listed above, made the change as directed and then clicked “Save” and voila the videos showed up.
