We offer the option to pay by check on our website.
Is there any way to incorporate payments by check into a products inventory controls?
The current setup works perfect for payment by paypal/credit card.
I understand WP eStore is an e-commerce solution, but for our summer camps some parents want to pay with a personal check and we need to track inventory on the website so we do not oversell a camp week.
Is there a solution to include a “Pay by Check” in the order flow that will reduce a product’s available inventory on the website?
Thank you, robert
March 18, 2014 at 12:45 am #61687wzpModeratorYou can enable the Manual Checkout Gateway, and change the checkout page to invoke the Manual Gateway, when paying by check. It can also take care of the inventory, as well:
This is a good post to read for when you want to use the manual checkout gateway:
March 18, 2014 at 6:37 pm #61688web2014califMemberThank you. Read through the WP eStore’s Manual/Offline Checkout Methods, but nots sure which of the 3 options is best for us. Could I get some advice?
We want offer 2 payment choices:
1- Pay by paypal/credit card.
2- Pay by check/cash, without any online payment processing.
Want both payment options to deduct inventory for the product purchased. Which of the 3 manual payment checkout options would you recommend?
Do we need WP eMember installed to accomplish this?
We want to do this through WP eStore only.
Do we need to create a separate order form or manual order page for manual payments?
Searched the forum and looked for a video. Are there any online demos showing the manual setup?
Any assistance is very appreciated.
Thank you, Robert

Since you are talking about checks and cash; the third option is best, because it allows you to confirm that payment was received (and the checks clear), before wasting time with post payment processing.
You should not use the second option, unless you ***really*** trust the check writers.

You only need eStore.

No. Only if you want to customize the default form.

March 18, 2014 at 7:59 pm #61690web2014califMemberThanks again!!
We are ok with trusting people to pay, we are not selling physical or download products, we sell educational classes and camp slots for kids. They can’t attend until payment is received. More important is inventory is deducted on the website for credit card and cash payments.
It seems as if option 2 is an easier setup than option 3.
Is the difference between 2 and 3, that 3 has an additional admin screen to monitor payments received?
Also want to confirm that this option:
“Automatically Update Customer & Products Database”
must be checked for the product inventory to be linked to manual checkout:
Thanks for your help, we have eStore running live now and want to be clear about manual checkout features before activating them.

Yes, the additional acreen would be used to handle the post payment actions, after you verified payment. Under the second option, you would not need this screen.
Also want to confirm that this option:
“Automatically Update Customer & Products Database”
must be checked for the product inventory to be linked to manual checkout:
Yes, that is correct.
