Hi,
I noticed that available qty in product description was not decrease even though I checked out some.
Firstly I set available copy 5 and then I add the item 2 pieces in cart.
I checked them out using manual checkout and email receipt has been received by buyer but the seller, which I set it in email notification field, did not receive email notification.
When I open the product list page, the Available Qty for that product is still 5 and the worst part is there was no error when I add all the quantity (5 pieces) in the cart.
The plugin should check the available stock when adding to cart, shouldn’t it?
Please help.
Thanks

You are using the manual checkout which by default doesn’t do all the post payment processing stuff like the normal checkout as you actually haven’t received the money (the customer can run away without giving you the money at this stage).
If you do want the manual checkout to go ahead and do the post payment processing then you can specify that in the Manual checkout settings menu. So in your case make sure you have the “Automatically Update Customer & Products Database” option checked in the Manual checkout settings section. The help text next to each of those options have good explanation too.
November 17, 2010 at 12:50 pm #26586SamuelMemberHi Amin,
Thanks for your answer. Now the available qty is correct but I noticed that the checkout process did not check available stock.
I tested to an item that has qty: 5
I opened product page in two different browser (firefox and chrome) as if there were two different customers who want to buy the item.
I checkout 3 in firefox and in the 2nd browser I add 3 in cart. I expect the 2nd customer could not checkout because the available stock was 2 (5-3) but there was no warning / error in checkout process. This two purchased using manual checkout.
When I refreshed the page the available qty : -1 (this value came from 5-6).
I do expect the software will check the available qty first and cancel the process if the available stock is less than purchased item so that the available qty will not less than 0.
Please help.
Thanks a lot.

So you need to make sure in 2nd browser you add the items to the cart after the checkout is complete on the 1st one because the available quantity won’t be decreased until the checkout is complete and confirmed (many people like to abandon the cart so it doesn’t decrease the available qty as soon as you add the item to the cart). The situation that you got into will only happen if two customers are checking out the same time at the same time (the chances are low unless you have a site like amazon). When it does happen I am sure explaining it to the customer won’t be a problem.

May 21, 2012 at 3:31 pm #26589TheUncommonThreadMemberOh dear – we are having the same issue with the quantity at the moment, but actually more worrying for me right now is the fact two people can buy the same item at once. I will have several people trying to buy the same item at the same time, even though I’m not Amazon and I don’t really want to have to write to each of them every time explaining it. Do you think there is any way around this?
May 22, 2012 at 2:50 am #26590adminKeymasterThe alternative is to reserve the item as soon as someone adds it in the cart. Which means you will run in the following scenario a lot:
1. Customer “A” comes to the site and adds it to the cart (this customer is a bad customer and wasn’t going to go through with the checkout)
2. In the meantime customer “B” comes to the site but can’t add the item anymore while customer “A” is just browsing around. This customer “B” was a good customer who actually would go through with the checkout but can’t buy it.
3. Later customer “A” abandons the cart and you miss the sale altogether.
You will be surprised how many users end up abandoning the cart after they add the item to the cart and browse around. This is why we opted in for the “update quantity after the checkout” option and it seems to work better for our customers.
So even though it may look like an issue to you at the moment, once you start selling and see it in action you will have better data to judge if this is really a big problem for you or not.
April 6, 2013 at 10:27 am #26591lucvryensMemberI have another (similar) problem apparently. I have set the the “Available copies” to 1 and the “Quanttity Limit Per Customer to 1 in the Inventory Control section of the product item and when I try to purchase the item, it says “Item limit exceeded! You cannot purchase any more copies of this item” even if it is the first time I want to purchase the item. In addition, it seems to be in the shopping cart because and when I go back to the products page and try to purchase it again it says “Item already exists in the cart”.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Luc

April 7, 2013 at 7:30 am #26593lucvryensMemberUnfortunately my website is not online yet as it still is in development mode (currently on an XAMPP platform on my desktop with WordPress 3.5, Elegant Themes Estore theme ands Tips & Tricks Estore plugin.
Have you never seen a similar problem before? Could it be related to the ET Estore theme? Your support people told me there are some changes needed when using the ET Estore theme but I don’t know what the changes are.
April 7, 2013 at 11:24 pm #26594adminKeymasterI haven’t seen the exact issue you described. It is hard to guess what it is without being able to interact with the button myself. The following post has info on what to do for ET eStore theme:

April 9, 2013 at 12:59 pm #26595lucvryensMemberAs far as I can tell, I have removed all other plug-ins I tried (actually deleting them to make sure all their code would be removed as well) and I have made some changes to the ET Estore theme but the problem is still there. If you can’t do with what I told you sofar, I will be obliged to put the website online with the problems it currently has. I guess it is possible to give only access through logon id and password but I’ll have to find out. I would prefer to fix all problems before going live.
April 9, 2013 at 3:00 pm #26596lucvryensMemberCould it be that it wants to add 2 each time I click on the Add to cart button (mine is called “Voeg toe aan het wagentje”)? That would fit the errors: the maximum exceeded the first time and only one taken into account, already in the cart the second time (the one that passed the first click).
April 10, 2013 at 1:18 am #26597adminKeymasterPlease transfer the test site to a live server so I can view the page (otherwise this guessing won’t solve the issue). We know that this feature of eStore works correctly. It is a matter of finding out what setup you have where it is not working. If I can see the page I will be able to give you better answers.
April 10, 2013 at 1:36 pm #26598lucvryensMemberI have found the problem. It was caused by the fact that I put both the “available copies” AND the “quantity limit per customer” to 1 (I already said that in my initial post on the subject). By emptying the “quantity limit per customer” case, it works as it should. So I guess this is a bug in the plug-in software.
