I just discovered that encrypted links don’t properly connect to the download location. It hangs on the “downloads.php” script then gives a “server error*”. I suspect this may have something to do with fact that the site I’m using this on is listed as an add-on domain on the server. “masterdomain.net/otherdomain.com/wordpress-installation” (the site is accessible from “otherdomain.com” though). If this is indeed the issue then what can I change in the “download.php” file to fix this (if indeed this is issue)? Thanks for your help and time.
March 24, 2010 at 10:32 pm #19072IvyMemberTry deleting the following 2 files from the downloads directory “.htaccess, .htpasswd” some servers have problems with these files.
Here is an article that will explain this some more: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/download-directory-protection
Cheers,
Ivy
March 24, 2010 at 10:51 pm #19073switchMemberDidn’t work… Hmm, I’m using a different location as well without those two files.
Here is a link for a download so you can better see what is happening.
I discovered this problem when I was going to change the validation location. It’s all back to the original settings at the moment though as you can see. Thanks…
Also, this is my server file structure for this site: /public_html/domain.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products
March 25, 2010 at 4:37 am #19074amin007ParticipantI got a little confused with this part “masterdomain.net/otherdomain.com/wordpress-installation”
Lets go through step by step.
Can you please copy and paste the URL that you have entered in the “Digital Download URL” of the products section into the browsers address bar and let me know if it downloads the file correctly?
March 25, 2010 at 5:28 am #19075switchMemberSorry.. ok… I was trying to say that my wordpress installation is not directly under the “public_html” directory. It is in “public_html/mydomain.com/”
Ok, yes it does work. It does download from the url put into the “Digital Product URL” box.
March 25, 2010 at 10:26 pm #19076switchMemberAny other ideas?
March 26, 2010 at 1:05 am #19077switchMemberHere is an update.
I just tested the download link with the “If checked the digital content will be offered as an anonymous download” unchecked.
The download worked with encryption off.
It still does not work with encryption on however.
March 26, 2010 at 1:33 am #19078IvyMemberAre you using relative or absolute URL’s?
Cheers,
Ivy
March 26, 2010 at 1:44 am #19079switchMemberAbsolute..
thanks…
March 26, 2010 at 4:08 am #19080switchMemberAfter some further research I think my problem may be related to an issue that’s been previously posted:
again thanks for your guy’s time concerning this issue…
March 26, 2010 at 7:52 am #19081amin007ParticipantJust wanna make sure… you got this fixed?
March 26, 2010 at 8:22 pm #19082switchMemberNo, sorry if that wasn’t clear. What you had asked me to do worked, but using encryption still doesn’t work. With encryption I’ve found it downloads a 0 byte file.

March 27, 2010 at 4:20 am #19083IvyMemberHi Switch, I have sent you an email regarding this issue. Please let me know if you do not receive the email.
Cheers,

March 27, 2010 at 4:32 am #19084switchMemberGot it. Sent back the stuff ya need. Thanks
March 27, 2010 at 7:04 pm #19085switchMemberOk, after reading some more on the forums and looking through some error logs I think I found out the problem.
It’s similar to this post here:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/empty-file-download#post-1093
It looks like I’m running out of ram on the server so it’s just a problem with they way my site is hosted.
[27-Mar-2010 18:52:19] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19404801 bytes) in /home/beyoglo5/public_html/hive32.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/download.php on line 82
Thanks for all the help guys. I do love this plug-in. Keep up the good work.
Wish my server could handle the encryption…
