I just downloaded your shopping cart plugin and I love using it. I tried another one earlier and it just didn’t do the job. I’m glad I found yours.
I’ve just about set everything up, but am having trouble with the product download. I was testing the Paypal features live and I got it to work. When I downloaded the file, I got a blank zip file. The zip file that should come with the download is about 20MB.
I used the Admin functions to create download links to test out other files and I can’t get any of them to work. I’m not sure what the problem is? I’ll tackle the problem over the next few days but your insight is appreciated.
I can send you a sample download link via email if you like.
Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks for the idea. I took another look at the file path. First I made the file names simpler to see if that was the problem. The downloaded file was then 4kB instead of the 22MB but more than 0kB as before. I then used the full link instead starting from starting from http://capturingchinese.com/.
This results in the following error:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 18353907 bytes) in Hosting4445488htmlwp-contentpluginswp-cart-for-digital-productsdownload.php on line 114
I’m now more confused than before.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Kevin

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 18353907 bytes) in Hosting4445488htmlwp-contentpluginswp-cart-for-digital-productsdownload.php on line 114
This can happen if you are hosting on a shared hosting and you are using more than the RAM allocated to you.
When this happens the server randomly kills any running script to free up memory. This would mean that when you start the download process the script is getting killed by the server so it’s not completing.
Try unchecking the “Downloadable” option on this product. This will make the browser handle the download rather than the script.

Great! It works like a charm now. Just to verify, is the file still encrypted and the user won’t know where the file is coming from? I’m thinking yes, but just want to confirm.
If so then I should be all set. Thanks for your help. I would have had a lot of trouble on my own.
Cheers.

February 7, 2010 at 3:12 am #17023MikeMemberHello,
A customer purchased my ebook yesterday. ( I use wp estore) I received an email letting me know of the purchase and received the money. The customer got the email with the encrypted download link but when he tried to download the ebook a php file gets downloaded instead of the pdf book. I had him send me the email and I tried to download the book from the encrypted link and got the same problem. A php file was downloaded to my computer instead of the pdf book. When I copy and paste the encrypted link into my browser I get the pdf ebook.
Any ideas what is going on?
February 7, 2010 at 11:21 am #17024amin007ParticipantThat is weird. So the link works in the browser when entered directly but not if it’s in an email?
February 8, 2010 at 5:16 pm #17025MikeMemberYeah, I thought it was wierd as well. I went back and checked it though. It doesn’t work if I try to download it by right clicking but if I left click on it in the email it will work. So I guess there really is no problem. I’ll just change my instructions in the email from “right click” to “click”
February 8, 2010 at 10:11 pm #17026amin007Participantah I see what you are doing now. Right clicking on that link won’t work. Right clicking on a link and downloading it is a browser feature but the encrypted download option is handled by the plugin so even the browser do not know where the download is coming from otherwise the link location can get compromised.
February 8, 2010 at 10:17 pm #17027MikeMemberahh…smart.
Thanks
February 22, 2010 at 6:44 pm #17028RRGMemberI’m not getting the out of memory error, just a downloaded file with no KB’s. Pretty much a empty file. I am on a shared server, but they claim its no fault of theirs (lunarpages) Any ideas?
Thank for reading
