Selling Across Different Domains

There are lots of different ways users can set this up. The answer for all of those setup variations won’t be “YES”. Some of them will be. So its best to answer this on a case by case basis.

Here is the most popular setup when users do this and it works:

1) You have a main domain. Lets call it x.com. You installed the affiliate plugin on this domain.

You sell stuff from this domain and everything is working fine.

2) Now, you have started another domain and you want to sell stuff from there too. For some reason you don’t want to have a separate affiliate program/campaign for that domain/site. Lets call that domain y.com.

You can do the following to track affiliate clicks and commission on your y.com domain using the main affiliate plugin on x.com

i) Install the satellite affiliate plugin on y.com and configure it

ii) Use one of the following methods to sell the products on y.com

– Direct PayPal button

– WP eStore

Hi,

I am going down this route shortly and would like to get it clear in my head. The following is my situation:

I have my main site where all my blog and all of my sales pages are:

coachingpositiveperformance.com

I want to set up training courses, using emember to protect them, in a seperate subdomain:

members.coachingpositiveperformance.com

The following is my understanding:

I only want to use one install of the Affilate plugin so I would put that on the main domain – coachingpositiveperformance.com

To sell the courses, I would install emember and estore on the subdomain – members.coachingpositiveperformance.com

I would also install the satellite plugin on the subdomain

To sell the courses which are on the subdomain, I would use the text link option on my sales page which is hosted on the main domain – coachingpositiveperformance.com

After the sale, the satellite plugin on the subdomain and the affliate plugin on the main domain would communicate to register the sale to the appropriate affiliate.

Have I got that right?
