Hi.
As of last couple days, my customers are getting the following errpr:
The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request. Please contact the site administrator.
Please tell the site administrator the problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) couldn’t be found in the wp_eStore database.
March 14, 2013 at 11:25 am #54426PeterMemberPlease go through the things in the following checklist to see if you can identify the cause of the problem:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/downloaded-file-size-is-0-zero-byte
This post will help you with testing the link:
Can you also try using the Admin Functions to create a download link and checking if that link works?
Then can you also try creating and sending one of the customers who are facing this issue another link as per the above method to see if that works?
Let us know how that goes.

April 22, 2015 at 7:53 pm #54428florianfriedrichMemberHi,
I have a huge problem and get lots of customer email complaints. Please help!
Some of my download links are not working. When they click the link, they get this message:
The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request. Please contact the site administrator.
Please tell the site administrator the problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) couldn’t be found in the wp_eStore database.
This did not happen before the update to the newest version of the estore plugin. Also, when I create the links in the admin menu, they will work. But this is no solution… it would take too much time.
My website: floriansbassunterricht.de/download-archiv/
Any idea? thanks!
Florian
April 22, 2015 at 9:08 pm #54429wzpModeratorFor those who received the error, how old are the links, and did you recently do anything; like click any of the reset or clear buttons in the Admin Functions?
Also, if it has been more than 1 month since your last eStore update, please read this, and update to the latest version:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/google-url-shortener-reliability
We were forced to switch from Google to Bitly for the URL shortener. Please remember to follow the post upgrade instruction for activating the new URL shortener.
April 23, 2015 at 7:59 am #54430florianfriedrichMemberI updated to the latest store version 7.1.9 a few days ago and also again yesterday.
The links are brand new. I uploaded my latest item yesterday.
Some of the links that are sent to the buyers won’t work… and when I produce them myself in the admin panel, they work just fine!
The rare thing is that not all my links are damaged. Only a few.
The bitly shortener works fine, but same problem there.
As I said, I reinstalled the latest version yesterday evening and have no downloads since. I hope that it will be alright now, but I have to wait for customer complaints.
I’ll keep you posted.

April 23, 2015 at 8:19 am #54431TraceyMemberI’m experiencing a similar problem – links that worked a couple of months ago have stopped working.
I am not using a link shortener – I’m using an Amazon S3 link.
I created a 1p test product as I’m testing adding 2 files to a single download (using comma-separated download links) but the resultant email has no links, and even if I try to generate links in the Admin Settings area, for ANY of my products, this does not work either. This is a really serious issue.
I’m using WP eStore V7.1.7 ; the only “change” (aside from plugin & WP upgdates) is that I added “WP Affiliate Platform” yesterday – so I deactivated it to see if that made any difference, but the test link creator under Admin Functions still isn’t working.
Please help…..
April 23, 2015 at 8:23 am #54432TraceyMemberHi there
I just saw Florian’s update (above mine) about upgrading to version 7.1.9 – my WP site is not showing that an update is needed; how do I upgrade my version to the latest one please?
April 23, 2015 at 8:37 am #54433florianfriedrichMemberHi Tracey,

April 23, 2015 at 10:12 am #54434TraceyMemberThanks Florian – we’ll do that & then hopefully will have success with the updated version, as you seem to have done
April 23, 2015 at 11:20 am #54435florianfriedrichMemberOk, I think I found the issue:
Download Links that do not work, all have titles that include a German character like ü or Ä.
The Download Links that have not such a character work fine…
Please can you resolve that issue asap?
That would be great!
Thanks, Florian
April 23, 2015 at 11:42 am #54436florianfriedrichMemberAlso the characters are not displayed correctly in the email that the customer gets. It looks like this:
Har0107 – Kirchentonleitern #6 (olisch/natrlich Moll) – [http://bit.ly/1DdP4hX]
Is there any possibility to integrate special characters into the store system? Or do I have to change it in the wordpress settings?
Kind regards,
Florian
April 23, 2015 at 11:50 pm #54437adminKeymaster@florianfriedrich, I will take a look at your site. I have sent you an email for it.
Have you done the following already?
April 24, 2015 at 12:55 pm #54438AnonymousInactiveJust for info, we’re having the same problem for the first time today.
Our site is in the process of migrating to a new server and the current live version is cached until that happens. I assumed the problem was something to do with that (and it may indeed be), but since I saw this thread I thought I should mention that we saw the same thing.
April 24, 2015 at 2:31 pm #54439AnonymousInactiveTo clarify, not the strange characters but the
The download link (see browser address bar) couldn’t be found in the wp_eStore database
