If database insert is failing or some character/text language of the email sent by the plugin is not recognizable (indicating a language encoding issue) then follow this instruction.
For example: The buyer or product names are not recognizable in the email (they get replaced with question marks).
This usually happens if you are using a non-western language and your PayPal profile is not set to send the instant payment notification (IPN) in UTF-8 format. When PayPal tries to send the payment notification using an encoding that is not native for your language some characters will be unrecognizable.
Simply specify in your PayPal account that you wish to receive the payment notification in UTF-8 format and everything will work fine.
You can enable UTF-8 formatting in your PayPal profile using the following steps:
#) Log into your PayPal account
#) Go to your profile
#) Look for the “PayPal button language encoding” section under the My selling tools. Or go to the following URL directly:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=_profile-language-encoding
#) Make sure your website language is set to the correct language
#) Click the more options button
#) Make sure encoding is set to UTF-8.
#) Then save settings
That should make it to where PayPal will send the payment notification using UTF-8 formatting and the plugin won’t have any issue with the language encoding.
