Dear Tips and Tricks HQ,
I want offer 2 payment options to the same membership level. Monthly payment and yearly payment. Both options should be connected to the same membership level. E.g. I want monthly payment of 9.99 usd billed with paypal subscription every month…
Or 59.99 per year – billed yearly.
How can I setup the system? With two different subscription buttons at paypal standard? What shall I do in order to renew subscription each month…or paypal does it and will notify wp-emember about successful payment each month….and what happens if payment fails?
Thanks
Andrew

You can create as many different subscription buttons as you want and hook it to the same membership level.
2. Paypal does it, and will send notifications, as appropriate.
3. If recurring payment fails, “…payment will be reattempted two more times if the payment fails. After the third failure, the subscription will be cancelled and the corresponding membership account will be deactivated.”

March 18, 2014 at 9:47 am #56868clearscopedesignParticipantIs it possible to offer members both a recurring (subscription) payment option, as well as a single (not recurring) payment option, and let them decide which one they’d like to use? If so, do we just create 2 different buttons for that?
Thank you!
March 19, 2014 at 4:08 am #56869adminKeymasterYes, you simply create two button and hook them both to the same membership level.
You can also create two different membership levels for these 2 buttons too. Both these membership levels with have the same permission/protection. User can sign upto the level using one of those 2 buttons (their choice).

I see the instructions for creating a ‘Buy Now’ PayPal button. And I see the explanation of the “Difference between ‘Buy Now’ and ‘Subscription’ type buttons for membership payment.” But I do not actually see the instructions for creating the ‘Subscription’ type PayPal button.
How do we create the ‘Subscription’ type button?
Thank you!
March 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm #56871wzpModeratorThe process for creating a PayPal buy now buttons and subscription buttons are similar. We are really just showing you what to do with the advanced variable section of the button to connect it to eMember. The rest of the button creation process comes from PayPal.
The “instructions” for creating a standard PayPal subscription button are in the video on this page…
April 17, 2014 at 5:26 am #56872clearscopedesignParticipantThank you very much. We have created the subscription button.
Just one question – we have placed this new subscription button on the ‘Registration’ page where new members sign-up. Can we also place it on the ‘Renewal’ page where existing members renew their accounts? If a member’s account has expired and they go to the ‘Renewal’ page, by being logged-in to their account the eStore button will know which account they payment is for and will automatically renew the account upon payment.
Will the same happen with this PayPal generated subscription button?
That is, if an existing member’s account has expired, and they didn’t previously have a recurring subscription set up, and they use this PayPal generated subscription button while logged-in to their account, will their account be automatically renewed and linked to the recurring subscription payment method?
Thank you!
