WP-eMember is not integrated with the WordPress user system, but I am experiencing several problems with it.
1. WP_eMember users cannot log out of Firefox. IE seems to work fine, not Firefox. Visit: http://www.victorfont.com/wp101-training/training-login/ and test with id: wp-emember-testid, pw: tipsandtrickshq. Please test with both IE and Firefox. Since I am protecting paid content, I will delete this ID as soon as I receive a response to this post.
2. When I installed WP-eMember, I asked it to create membership IDs from select WordPress users, Specifically, my admin ID. Initially, I turned on “Automatically log into eMember.” I did not turn on any other of the integration functionality.
3. When “Automatically log into eMember” is turned on, when you log out of WordPress, there is no way to log out of eMember. The ID stays logged into eMember even when logged out of WordPress. If you try to log out of eMember first, you are logged out of WordPress, but the ID stays logged into eMember. This happens in both IE and Firefox.
4. I turned off “Automatically log into eMember” and tried to delete the id that had been created from WordPress during the install. eMember also warned me that it was going to delete the WordPress user. Remember, I don’t have any integration functionality turned on at this point. The only way I sucessfully logged out of eMember was to delete the user directly from the member database.
September 6, 2011 at 12:46 am #36268adminKeymasterI was able to log in and log out using firefox without any issue. I did notice that you are using W3 Total Cache plugin. Did you follow this?
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/using-the-plugins-with-w3-total-cache-plugin
Please do the following test for me:
– Empty all cache form W3 Total Cache plugin
– Then temporarily deactivate the W3 Total Cache plugin
– Now do the steps mentioned in your posts and let me know if you see a difference in the behavior
September 6, 2011 at 2:53 am #36269vfontjrMemberThere’s no difference. W3cache was setup correctly. I had the required entries in the rejected cookies field. I deactivated W3Cache and tried to logout while the plugin was disabled. It didn’t work. I can’t get the userid to logout and return to the login screen while in Firefox. Maybe it’s the browser iteself. I’m on 6.01. Matbe something’s not set right.
September 6, 2011 at 3:04 am #36270vfontjrMemberI cleared the browser cache, it still didn’t work. I loaded Firefox in private browsing mode. The login form came right up, so I suspect it has something to do with the cookie not clearing correctly. To test my theory, I deleted the cookie from my domain. The login form appeared immediately. I logged in, but could not log out again. I’m running a WPMU environment. Is there anything you are doing with cookies that might not work quite right in a MU environment?
September 7, 2011 at 12:15 am #36271adminKeymasterLets me take step back now that you say this is a WPMS install.
1. Do mean the logout doesn’t happen on all the sites under this multi-site install or just the site you sent me to?
2. Are you using the WordPress integration on this site? When I tested it the logout from eMember happened correctly for me but I didn’t check the WordPress side.
September 8, 2011 at 11:49 pm #36272vfontjrMember1. Even though this is a WPMS system, WP-eMember is only running on one site, the one I sent you.
2. I am not using WordPress integration. The userids are in WP-emember only. I’m sure it’s probably a Firefox issue. Why would it work in IE and not Firefox?
September 9, 2011 at 2:09 am #36273adminKeymasterThe plugin doesn’t differentiate between browsers (it doesn’t actually know which browser someone is using). My guess would be that your firefox is not liking something (you may have changed your firefox preferences). An easy way to isolate the issue would be to test the logout action using another computer running firefox. Do you see the exact same behavior when you do this in a different computer?
April 25, 2012 at 11:53 pm #36274njacoleSpectatorHi there, how was the firefox log out issue resolved? I can’t log out under firefox either.
April 26, 2012 at 7:19 am #36275adminKeymasterPlease do the following:
1. Load a fresh build of the plugin:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
2. Create a test membership account and share the login details of this test account here
3. Post a link to the page where I can go and login using the details from step 2.
April 28, 2012 at 6:38 am #36276njacoleSpectatorHello, it was a firefox issue, clearing history and cookies sorted it out – simple thing to do.
Thank you for your response.
August 20, 2018 at 3:46 am #36277homehealthbizMemberEvery time I log in with an active user it says – “You have been logged out because another user has logged into this account from another browser.” I have obviously tried made sure I am logged out and try on another computer.
It was working for a few days. I could log in and out + the restricted content worked – no problems
I have added more membership levels and some more restricted content and now have some problems
I have looked at all the posts
I had already setup the W3 Cache and was not a problem a few days ago when I tested it.
I added the rejected cookie info as in the post.
I have now tried this because I have W3 installed and read your posts-
– Empty all cache form W3 Total Cache plugin
– Then temporarily deactivate the W3 Total Cache plugin
I then tested again and it was the same with the plugin deactivated
What should I do next? Please help
all pages with a login – here is and example login page for you to try
homehealthbiz.com/nonmedevalonline/
This level and user was working – I made sure they are active for a membership level
You can try logging in with these details
Username: titchanraksmey12
Passwork: NaPZ0KX@0Yd2
August 20, 2018 at 4:38 am #36278adminKeymasterGo to the eMember settings menu and please make sure the following checkbox is turned OFF:
Disable Simultaneous Member Login
Do you see any difference after that?
August 20, 2018 at 11:17 pm #36279homehealthbizMemberI did that. It works and lets me login OK. So what if I did want no Simultaneous Login?
August 21, 2018 at 4:48 am #36280adminKeymasteron some servers that feature fails to work (due to the plugin not being able to save and retrieve all the details from the server).
