Sorry Peter. Hopefully this makes it clearer!
This is a school alumni membership site with protected content for members (death notices, articles and a shop for ties, cufflinks etc.)
The most important function for the plugin is to capture a range of personal information when a member joins such as the year they graduated, their current company etc.
This is all handled admirably by the custom fields.
The flow that I need is as follows:
Members click “join” – they fill out an obligatory and fuller registration page with a long form (including all my custom fields for grad year, address, phone number etc.) – in the next screen they pay via paypal – finally they get a confirmation email
At the moment when a member clicks to joing they go set a username and pay and get an email pleading them to fill out the registration form (Member Signup Scenario 1 as per your document on registration flow).
This email is very frequently ignored so I need them to fill out the registration form with custom fields first before collecting payment.
thomasbrunkardMemberHi Peter and thanks for getting back to me.
I have it set up as described just having a tough time trying to get the users to actually fill out that form which is absolutely essential. is there any way to make them fill out the form first and fully?
thomasbrunkardMemberThank you for the quick response! I’ll try that.
thomasbrunkardMemberakeith2002 : Would you be able to share your code with me? I’m trying to create custom pages that display all data a user has (including custom fields). My problem comes in with the custom fields part – how do you decipher that serialized data?
Cheers!
