I see a thread from six years ago saying Photo Seller only allows sales tax by country and NOT by state. Is that still the case? State tax rates vary widely so using one rate for the entire country would be incorrect, plus, one does NOT collect sales tax except from your home state. This is kind of an important feature…….thanks again!
sunnymaluMemberHello,
We were finally able to get sales tax rate to “stick”!!
However – we only need to charge sales tax for our state – – – Washington State.
The sales tax is being applied to EVERY state in the USA and I’m not seeing a way to specify only WA.
And within the cart checkout, it still display a very long list of countries despite the fact that we selected to sell only to USA and Canada. Might this be related?
Primary issue is limiting sales tax ONLY to customers residing in WA state.
Thank you!
P.S – – I just reviewed the Documentation for adding sales tax and it says:
“Once you specify the Tax rates, your customers will be given an option at the checkout to choose their billing country or state to calculate tax on their purchase.”
But – – in the area where we specify our tax rate, it only asks for “Country” and our tax rate (in the USA) varies by state. There is no option to select a state. And in the checkout, it also does not provide an option to select your State (Washington state). Thanks again!!
sunnymaluMemberI have the SAME questions – – – we chose “International Sales” because we will sell and ship to Canada. Then it asks us to choose specific countries that we wish to sell to. We chose United States and Canada.
However, like beanojames, in the cart checkout, it lists many, many other countries besides the two that it allowed us to select earlier??? How can we limit the options in the cart checkout to the two we specified earlier in the setup process? Thank you!
sunnymaluMemberThanks, Peter – – – yes, that is what we wound up doing. Makes for a rather long list, but it seems to work!
