Ive read the documentation and it certainly seems straightforward – – but no matter what I do – the sales tax rate doesn’t seem to “stick”. I type it into the field, click save, and then it remains blank and showing that we still need to enter a sales tax rate. Actually, we aren’t really offered “states” (USA states) to choose from, only countries – so I selected “United States” and typed 8.7% and also 0.087 but nothing “saves” and no tax gets applied. We really only need to charge sales tax to purchases going to WA state.

What behaviour do you see after clicking the save button? Are there any errors?
Which version of the plugin are you using?
I can’t reproduce that problem on my test site.
Can you please try checking your log files to see if there any errors logged?
Also please enable logging for the photo seller plugin by going here:
WP Photo Seller >> Settings
The scroll to bottom of page and select “Yes” for “Enable Logging”
March 10, 2020 at 11:41 pm #80358sunnymaluMemberHello,
We were finally able to get sales tax rate to “stick”!!
However – we only need to charge sales tax for our state – – – Washington State.
The sales tax is being applied to EVERY state in the USA and I’m not seeing a way to specify only WA.
And within the cart checkout, it still display a very long list of countries despite the fact that we selected to sell only to USA and Canada. Might this be related?
Primary issue is limiting sales tax ONLY to customers residing in WA state.
Thank you!
P.S – – I just reviewed the Documentation for adding sales tax and it says:
“Once you specify the Tax rates, your customers will be given an option at the checkout to choose their billing country or state to calculate tax on their purchase.”
But – – in the area where we specify our tax rate, it only asks for “Country” and our tax rate (in the USA) varies by state. There is no option to select a state. And in the checkout, it also does not provide an option to select your State (Washington state). Thanks again!!
March 11, 2020 at 6:16 pm #80359sunnymaluMemberI see a thread from six years ago saying Photo Seller only allows sales tax by country and NOT by state. Is that still the case? State tax rates vary widely so using one rate for the entire country would be incorrect, plus, one does NOT collect sales tax except from your home state. This is kind of an important feature…….thanks again!
March 12, 2020 at 11:35 pm #80360wzpModerator@sunnymalu — And you followed these instructions for setting up State/Regional Specific Tax?
In the documentation, you’d simply create new “regions” for each state. Alternatively, you can impliment PayPal Profile Based Tax.
