December 11, 2014 at 12:25 am in reply to: eStore download links after purchase are not working #53239ryan.taylorMember
My customers’ encrypted digital download links have also stopped working properly, at first intermittently, but now at a concerning rate. This situation began approximately 2 weeks ago. The customers are receiving an error message stating that the link has been used too many times, when in fact it is their first usage. This is not happening to all product links, nor to any particular product’s links, consistently, yet is happening frequently enough that it’s worrisome. We originally had the Download Limit Count set to 3 to allow two downloads. Once the problem became apparent, we increased that number to 4.
We were using W3 Total Cache, but disabled it when, during the Cyber Monday rush, customer emails complaining of unused, yet expired links became constant.
I’ve tested the download and streaming links for every product on 2 machines: a Windows 7 rig using Firefox, Chrome, and IE, and an Ubuntu rig using Chromium and Firefox, with cleared browser cache and/ or incognito window, and have experienced only a few, isolated issues. My customers are experiencing issues across all devices, operating systems, and browsers.
The website I refer to is http://mfeo.tv/
I can provide as many test download links as you feel will be helpful.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
ryan.taylorMemberThank you. I think that I will make an addon to do this because it is a very specific scenario and your solution is not viable in our sales environment.
ryan.taylorMemberIdeally, we can continue to work with the same link that the customer has already been issued. Is there a way to identify the download link that was used on page load? If so, then I can find the corresponding record in the database and set the access_count back to 0 if the product is not yet available.
ryan.taylorMemberI’m sorry, I don’t mean to refund their purchase. I would like to refund the use of their download link, under specific date conditions which are controlled by the page template.
We are selling live stream and on-demand streaming video. Because customers can purchase videos prior to the live stream broadcast, I have created the template to embed the video only if it is on or after the air date, using the eStore shortcode and some php in the template.
If the link is used prior to the embedded video being available, the template tells the customer to come back in X days to watch the video live or on-demand, afterwards. For these cases, I would like return the link use so it will not count against their total number of allowed uses per link prior to the embedded video being available.
Is this possible?

I have bought and use not only eStore but also Affiliate Platform and, in the next couple of months, I will almost certainly be purchasing your eMember plugin. Well done.
Is anything that I can do to expedite Bitcoin payment implementation, please let me know. This is really important to me. I will give you money.

I’m just about to modify the eStore plugin to add a BitPay button, in a most unfortunate but necessary way.
