Oops, my mistake. AWeber uses the term “list description” for a longer description that subscribers see. So list ID = unique auto-generated identifier, list name = short description for the account owner, list description = longer description subscribers see.
The list name can be up to 32 characters long, and can include spaces and uppercase letters, which are not e-mail compatible, and it can be changed at any time. (They should probably have called it list description.)
For list ID, aWeber says “Your unique list ID is the automatically generated name for your list.” They say you need the list ID to e-mail the list, to use a custom sign-up form, and also note, “If you connect AWeber with a third party app, they may require your unique list ID.”
It definitely sounds like I need to use the list ID. I urge you to make sure that all instructions use the same terms aWeber uses, because it is confusing otherwise.
