OK, I deactivated the plugin, downloaded the latest version, uploaded
and overwrote everything, re-activated, and did a test sale.
Then I had to re-do the edit in “eStore_advanced_configs.php”
and set it back to “true”, i.e., define(‘WP_ESTORE_AUTO_SHORTEN_DOWNLOAD_LINKS’, true);
And now, the shortlinks work in both the thank-you page as well
as in the email. Awesome, thanks guys.
leonurusMemberOK, so, what do I need to do on my end? (I just did a test sale,
and the old, super-long links still appear on the “Thank You”
page.)
I need more input; thanks, man.
leonurusMemberAlright, so I edited the “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and changed the
line to “true”, i.e., define(‘WP_ESTORE_AUTO_SHORTEN_DOWNLOAD_LINKS’, true);
…and it’s awesome. The download links look like this: http://goo.gl/J3ZK1
…which is great, thank you.
The only problem is that the “Thank You” page (that the customer gets redirected
to after the paypal purchase) still uses long links.
I can live with it, but if there’s a solution it would look more professional
if the smaller (http://goo.gl/J3ZK1) links were both in the email as well
as on the “Thank You” page.
Let me know!
leonurusMemberIt’s alright I figured it out, thanks.
leonurusMemberInitially, to try and work around this, I went to WP eStore –> Settings –> Buyer Email Body.
I kept this one really simple and basic:
Dear {first_name} {last_name},
{product_specific_instructions}
From there, I went to the product specific instructions of each of my products and placed
the {product_link_digital_items_only} in there.
This works out great as long as the customer only purchases one product, however, if
they purchase multiple things, now they get an email inside of an email inside of an
email, and each email contains all the links. So if the guy buys three things, he gets
three emails appended into one large email, and each of the emails gives him all
three links. So he’s really getting triples of everything.

Is it old or something?
Anyway, I can upload the files to FTP, but then how do I ‘connect’
the files to the product in eStore?
Grrr. I don’t know how you guys do this all day. You must have
the patience of a saint. This stuff drives me crazy, man.

So, I contacted my hosting guru to see if one of the options
mentioned are going to be doable.

Next to that button you can also click “More Info”:
Uploading a file and using it as the digital content of this product is a 3 step process:
Click the above upload button
Choose the file to upload which will upload that file to your media library
Finally, click the Insert into Post button, this will populate the uploaded file’s URL in the following field.
The URL of the digital product that you are selling (this content will be given to your customer via an encrypted link), example: http://www.example.com/downloads/ebook/superman.zip

first I went to “Digital Content Details (Click to Expand)”, and
then “Digital Product URL” I clicked “Upload File”, and to my
consternation it says, “Maximum upload file size: 8MB”
