No I hadn’t, because the page they are trying to access is only available to, say, level 2, not level 8.
Basically, a person can have multiple levels of membership.
Some of the content they can view is only available to level 2. Some of the content they can read is only available to level 8.
If they have levels 8 and 2 in their membership profile, then I want them to be able to see both.
However, I don’t want people who only have level 2 to be able to see level 8.
It’s important for me to be this specific with it because the different levels represent paid courses.
I hope that clarifies!
Thanks,
Clare

Yes, when you go into the user profile (via settings / user) it shows multiple boxes ticked.
Since the member has access to multiple levels and this is confirmed by the multiple tick boxes in their member profile, surely they should be able to see the content?
However, they can only access the content for the most recent level they subscribed to. As soon as they add a new level (e.g. sign up for a new course) they lose access to all the previous-levels’ content, which is a major problem for me.
I have reviewed all of the links on the page you suggested, but I can’t see how any of this would help?
I really need members with multiple levels to be able to see all the content associated with all of their levels.
Settings:
For all of my membership levels, the boxes under ‘eMember / Membership Level / Manage Levels’ => Global Access To – are all ticked.
eMember / Settings => Enable Secondary Membership
TICKED = Enable the ability to assign multiple membership levels per user.
TICKED = When a member’s primary level expires, automatically set one of the non-expired secondary level as his primary level.
Preserve WordPress User Role:
TICKED = If checked the WP User’s role will not be updated according to the role value set in the membership level. By default the WP User role is set to the value you specify in the Default WordPress Role field of a membership level.
I am not protecting whole pages – instead I’m using the partial content protection with the level number in the shortcode.
I don’t have any global content protection set as I want each page and post to be visible to non-members, to use the ‘error message’ and incentive to sign up.
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes,
Clare

Thanks – yes – that should definitely work. I’ll do that right away.
I have just noticed a problem with my membership levels, though.
I have different membership levels depending on which course someone has signed up for and multiple membership levels is enabled.
Basically, if someone ‘upgrades’ from, say, level 2 to level 8 (not really a hierarchy – simply a way of controlling content so that only people on a certain course can read it), then although their member profile (in the emember members list) shows multiple membership levels, they can no longer see any of the other levels’ web pages, when they log in.
It’s as though, by upgrading to level 8, they are losing everything they have already paid for at level 2.
Help please!
Thanks,
Clare
January 20, 2014 at 5:18 pm in reply to: eMember – how to register for a second membership level #60343clerpiMemberI think I’ve just got it to work – I’ve run a test with the eStore / eMember connection, with the course as a ‘membership level’ and the user logged in before purchase – and it all works great!
The only tiny glitch is that the aweber sign-up uses the ‘first name’ as per the credit card, rather than from the member’s eMember account. Is the a way around that? For example, a person might be ‘Judith’ on their credit card but may want to be called ‘Jude’ in emails?
Thanks!

Thanks – this is a great solution for adding an extra level of free membership – works a treat.
However, what about paid membership?
For example, someone can have a free silver-level account. However, if they want to upgrade to a paid membership (a particular online course), how would that work?
I need them to be able to keep the same login details and email address.
Thanks!

January 8, 2014 at 4:31 pm in reply to: How can I allow imported members to choose their username #60197clerpiMemberHi,
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, as per the other post, there are about 700 members…
I was hoping to find a way to import them and have them click the ‘registration’ link, as though they were first-time users. Is there a way of doing this? As you say, the username is pivotal in the eMember database and can’t be changed.
Is there a way for me to import them that would allow me to explain in a customised email to them, explaining what was going on and allowing them to register (once I have deleted them from the current wordpress database), choosing their own username?
Thanks!
