Thanks Admin.
My previous hosting had been problematic from the start, so based on your reply above I bit the bullet and have changed hosting providers to an organisation which uses Apache. The download page works perfectly. Problem solved.
Thanks again.
cabrownausMemberThanks for the reply.
The server uses Microsoft-IIS/8.0
cabrownausMemberI’m having the same problem as the original poster.
The downloads protection feature is not protecting the downloads.
Even with the “Enable/Disable eMember Folder Protection” box checked and the “update” button clicked, anyone can download the files contained within the so-called “protected” folder without entering a username and password.
Folks pay for site memberships to be able to access this folder so it’s quite important that it is secured as promised when I paid for the plugin. See: https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-emember-easy-to-use-wordpress-membership-plugin-1706 “Download Folder Protection – If you offer downloads for your members then you can use the folder protection feature. Users will need to provide valid login credentials to download any file from the protected folder.”
I thought all features would work straight out of the box…
If and when you answer, please keep in mind that I am not an IT guy nor do I have any desire to be. In fact, I use WordPress and plugins like this one so I don’t have to be… or so I thought. Keep it simple and succinct please.
