Thanks very much for all your help. It seems like everything is working well. I Am looking forward to using WPeMember and also eStore, which I will install shortly.
Thanks again. All the best….Burton
BurtonMemberTried that – Didn’t help.
The login is definitely erratic. If a member logs is using the widget, it immediately take you to the Free Content page where it says “Please log in to access this information”. If you press the “back” button or arrow, the widget says “You are logged in as “____”. But you still have no access to any of the restricted content. If you 1. log in again from the widget, or 2. go back to the Free Content page and log in from there, or 3. go to the “Login” page, you will be logged in and have access.
Then, when you log out and go back to a protected page, sometimes (not always)you are still logged in. Or if you log out and come back tomorrow, you are still logged in (sometimes but not always). I’ve even logged in from my other computer, and found I was already logged in but couldn’t access any protected content.
I’ve tried all kinds of things.
– cleared the cookies (seems to help but not always)
– I’ve tried four different browsers, I.E., Fire Fox, Chrome, Safari, doesn’t help.
– I’ve deleted the plugin and re-installed it fresh, from new download.
– I’ve tried other computers.
I am hosted on “Blue Host” with all my sites and have never had an issue with anything. But I’m really out of ideas. Please Help.
BurtonMemberSorry, I had to be away for a while on family bus., but I’m still having frustration with the login widget. It almost never let’s me in on the 1st try. If I click on the link to the login page and fill in the log in info there, it always lets me in on the first try. But then when I log out, and the next time I land on the page, I’m already logged in. (this stuff is happening on “Fire-Fox”, “Int.Exp”, and “Chrome”) I tried clearing the cookies and all the browsing history, and sometimes it changes but not always. It’s very spasmodic.
So, as you suggested, I would create a new login name and password but it will not accept another user name from me. ???
I already have about 10 sign-ups but I do not know how, or if, it’s working for them.
There’s almost no real content on the site yet, just the page structure. I want it to work before I load it up.
IS THERE A POSSIBILITY that “THESIS THEME” could be conflicting with “E-MEMBER”?
I’m running out of ideas and even questions to ask. Thanks for any help
BurtonMemberBy the way, I have tried clearing the cookies on each of the browsers. Doesn’t seem to make any difference.

BurtonMemberNo I don’t. The only plugins are “wp eMember”, “wp Lightbox”, and Thesis “Open Hook”.

BurtonMemberYes, I un-installed the WP-emember plugin and re-installed it and that did fix the “Login Restriction by IP Address” but I’m still having trouble with the login widget. It seems that the it works spasmodically. It will direct you to the FREE CONTENT page but there it says “Please login to view this content”. Then when I login it works fine. Sometimes, it logs me in right away and directs me to the Free Content page already logged in. If I don’t use the widget, and click on Free content, or any other protected page, after arriving on the site, it says “Please login to view” and when I do it logs me in first time every time. Are there any settings for the widget? or could this be a “cookie” issue? I’ve been testing on 3 different browsers – IE7, Google Chrome, and Fire Fox, and get the same result. I tried to put the code for the login in the sidebar, but I couldn’t get it to work. I thought about just forgetting the widget and putting a link or a button to a login page or a register page. That would work but I like the way the widget shows that you are logged in and has a log out link too.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help….Burton
BurtonMemberYes, Thank you, Thank you, I set up a new email address and Voila! Success!
However, I still do have the issue of not being able to uncheck the “Login Restriction by IP Address:” in the WP emember “settings menu”.
I had set the “login restriction by IP address) to “2”, but when I clear it and then press “update options”, the number comes back again. I did try to change it to “5” and then update and it changes to “5”. But it says “To disable this option leave it blank” but when I clear the box and then update, the number comes back. I can change it to any other number but I cannot disable it. Not sure what else to try….Burton…
P.S. Thank you for you quick response (and even on a weekend) I really appreciate that….B.
