I am running WP version 3.1.3, using the Thesis Theme version 1.8.1, and WP emember version 6.6.3.
(HERE’S THE PROBLEM) When I try to register as a member, a message in RED says “Please wait 10 seconds before submitting the form again”. I tried again and again to no avail. I tried different browsers, I tried different user names and passwords, I tried different computers, I tried rebooting my computer. All with no results.
(HERE’S WHAT I DID BEFORE THE PROBLEM) I installed the plugin and set it up as per the videos you provided. Everything seemed to be working but I had no members yet so I decided to test it. I added myself from the Admin Panel – in the Add/Edit member area. (not sure why I did it there but…). It seemed to work OK but no email was sent so I fixed that and tested it again. Seemed OK. Then I tested the lost password feature. It seemed OK but I could not log in, so I tried the lost password again. It sent me a new password but I could not get in. I deleted the member (me) from the admin area, and now there’s no members and it will not accept any new members.
(HERE’S WHAT I ALSO DID) I had set the “login restriction by IP address) to “2”. I thought maybe that could be the problem so I tried to set it back to “0”, but it won’t go away. When I click “Update Options”, it comes back to “2” again. (could that be what’s locking me out?).
(HERE’S WHAT I HAVE CONSIDERED) I thought about deactivating emember and deleting it from my site and then re-installing it and re-setting it up, (it will be easier the second time), but I wasn’t sure that would fix the problem; I didn’t know if that would clear the database or not.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Burton
July 1, 2011 at 11:51 pm #33856amin007ParticipantI tested your your registration and the login and it worked for me (I was able to create a free user and then log in and see the video). I am pretty sure the issue you are having is related to your email address being already present in the WordPress database (your WP admin user probably have the same email that you are trying to use). Email addresses must be unique in the system so you cannot have two users with the same email address (this includes your WordPress users too). So go to your WordPress users list and check what email address is being used by which users. Then fill out a registration form with an email address that is already not in use. The login restriction applies when the same login details is used from different IP addresses (different computer). You didn’t do that so it should not matter.
July 2, 2011 at 6:07 am #33857BurtonMemberYes, Thank you, Thank you, I set up a new email address and Voila! Success!
However, I still do have the issue of not being able to uncheck the “Login Restriction by IP Address:” in the WP emember “settings menu”.
I had set the “login restriction by IP address) to “2”, but when I clear it and then press “update options”, the number comes back again. I did try to change it to “5” and then update and it changes to “5”. But it says “To disable this option leave it blank” but when I clear the box and then update, the number comes back. I can change it to any other number but I cannot disable it. Not sure what else to try….Burton…
P.S. Thank you for you quick response (and even on a weekend) I really appreciate that….B.
July 2, 2011 at 11:53 pm #33858amin007ParticipantPlease get a fresh build of the plugin from here and that should fix that.
July 6, 2011 at 12:26 am #33859BurtonMemberYes, I un-installed the WP-emember plugin and re-installed it and that did fix the “Login Restriction by IP Address” but I’m still having trouble with the login widget. It seems that the it works spasmodically. It will direct you to the FREE CONTENT page but there it says “Please login to view this content”. Then when I login it works fine. Sometimes, it logs me in right away and directs me to the Free Content page already logged in. If I don’t use the widget, and click on Free content, or any other protected page, after arriving on the site, it says “Please login to view” and when I do it logs me in first time every time. Are there any settings for the widget? or could this be a “cookie” issue? I’ve been testing on 3 different browsers – IE7, Google Chrome, and Fire Fox, and get the same result. I tried to put the code for the login in the sidebar, but I couldn’t get it to work. I thought about just forgetting the widget and putting a link or a button to a login page or a register page. That would work but I like the way the widget shows that you are logged in and has a log out link too.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help….Burton
July 6, 2011 at 2:59 am #33860amin007ParticipantDo you have any caching plugin?
July 6, 2011 at 4:17 am #33861BurtonMemberNo I don’t. The only plugins are “wp eMember”, “wp Lightbox”, and Thesis “Open Hook”.

July 6, 2011 at 4:20 am #33862BurtonMemberBy the way, I have tried clearing the cookies on each of the browsers. Doesn’t seem to make any difference.

July 6, 2011 at 7:41 am #33863amin007ParticipantCan you post details of a test user so I can try to log in and checkout what I see as a member?
July 23, 2011 at 9:42 pm #33864BurtonMemberSorry, I had to be away for a while on family bus., but I’m still having frustration with the login widget. It almost never let’s me in on the 1st try. If I click on the link to the login page and fill in the log in info there, it always lets me in on the first try. But then when I log out, and the next time I land on the page, I’m already logged in. (this stuff is happening on “Fire-Fox”, “Int.Exp”, and “Chrome”) I tried clearing the cookies and all the browsing history, and sometimes it changes but not always. It’s very spasmodic.
So, as you suggested, I would create a new login name and password but it will not accept another user name from me. ???
I already have about 10 sign-ups but I do not know how, or if, it’s working for them.
There’s almost no real content on the site yet, just the page structure. I want it to work before I load it up.
IS THERE A POSSIBILITY that “THESIS THEME” could be conflicting with “E-MEMBER”?
I’m running out of ideas and even questions to ask. Thanks for any help
July 24, 2011 at 1:50 am #33865IvyMemberHi, The Thesis theme wont’ have anything to do with it (all of our plugins have been tested to work with thesis theme). There is an easy way to test if a plugin is causing the issue. The following forum post will explain how to do this:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/test-to-identy-a-conflicting-theme-or-plugin
July 26, 2011 at 8:56 pm #33866BurtonMemberTried that – Didn’t help.
The login is definitely erratic. If a member logs is using the widget, it immediately take you to the Free Content page where it says “Please log in to access this information”. If you press the “back” button or arrow, the widget says “You are logged in as “____”. But you still have no access to any of the restricted content. If you 1. log in again from the widget, or 2. go back to the Free Content page and log in from there, or 3. go to the “Login” page, you will be logged in and have access.
Then, when you log out and go back to a protected page, sometimes (not always)you are still logged in. Or if you log out and come back tomorrow, you are still logged in (sometimes but not always). I’ve even logged in from my other computer, and found I was already logged in but couldn’t access any protected content.
I’ve tried all kinds of things.
– cleared the cookies (seems to help but not always)
– I’ve tried four different browsers, I.E., Fire Fox, Chrome, Safari, doesn’t help.
– I’ve deleted the plugin and re-installed it fresh, from new download.
– I’ve tried other computers.
I am hosted on “Blue Host” with all my sites and have never had an issue with anything. But I’m really out of ideas. Please Help.
July 27, 2011 at 12:27 am #33867amin007ParticipantI have sent you an email to get site access so I can check this out.
July 27, 2011 at 7:25 am #33868amin007ParticipantThe “Enable Fancy Login” feature was conflicting on your site. I have turned off this feature and it seems to be working fine for me now.
In your “Pages/Forms Settings” page you seem to have a few URLs with IP addresses there. Please update those values with an actual full URL (containing the domain name) and it should take care of the other issues.
July 28, 2011 at 12:51 am #33869BurtonMemberThanks very much for all your help. It seems like everything is working well. I Am looking forward to using WPeMember and also eStore, which I will install shortly.
Thanks again. All the best….Burton
