Okay, sorry to reawaken this thread but I have the same issue and have a problem with it rejecting if they are already registered as a user on the system.
I am using HelpDesk plugin which requires users to register to use that. I also was hoping to use WPeMembers to restrict access to users to specific pages.
Are you saying my users cannot register to use the Helpdesk tools AND become a member of the site without having a second email address. I think I need to get a refund then as this makes it totally unusable for what I want.
I already have users set up on HelpDesk and they too need to be able to access the members only parts.
